Honestly films these days have bigger budgets, better equipment, supposedly better actors and creative minds yet this film is genuinely nonsensical and devoid of logic or any of the charm a film like this needs. Romcoms from 90s to noughties we're are their peak, British humour, warmth heart and in that time several Asian cultures intertwined with ours and made for some seriously legendary films. To get a mix isn't easy but this did neither culture any favours, it was an almost offensively vague and ignorant portrayal of Pakistani culture. If I went to a pub and asked a random they'd say "lots of food, family and colourful decorations, mixed in with religion" plus it played out with the same basic level of understanding of their religion. Ok big problem here is ignoring Emma who's great and I'm amazed got roped into this, the casting is horrible, there is not a shred of chemistry between any couple, adult or younger, the family don't interact like family and the played out predictable story between the two leads, was dry, cold and wooden, not a single fibre of chemistry or realism. Let's be clear to, the girl isn't a nice girl, she's not someone you root for or care about, rude to her family, goes against obvious issues and embarrass her supposed friends family, selfish, tries to act unlucky in love whilst the vet guy was genuinely nice! Very strange writing. Lilly is fine for sky adverts and she's attractive but an actor she is not, maybe for tv or cheap movies, not a lead. I mean her acting was her one speed character she does in every film we said she's like a Poundland Keira. Weirdly the one interesting bit was a side story that didn't get anywhere near the attention it should have, also the new wife was ridiculously poorly written and deserved to add a bit more into the story than the weird stuff she got to work with. The lead guy, honestly up there with the worst actors I've seen lead a film, not particularly attractive, no charm, no nothing, just bland. The whole premise and stuff could've been really good but with the casting and writing it got , bar Emma, I heard no laughter, there was no romance here. It fails in every genre you'd try and attach to it and that kiss was so uncomfortable and weird. Don't waste your time paying for this, maybe freee tv on a rainy day but it's another dull, failure of a genre perfected 3 decades ago, I can't understand how anyone watched it back and thought it was good, plus how they kill off the premise of the story on a voice Mail with no fight back, sums up how little this film means. Pointless is being kind.

A beautiful, moving and funny script, written with time and care over many years - documenting stories of love and cross-cultural connection in a way which has never been done before. There will be a lot of people waiting to see this film, and many more who will connect to the idea of finding new ways of understanding and connecting across cultures and perspectives. Its written about a south Asian family, but will resonate with many more people. Proud of the writers and producers of this movie - and I hope to see much more from the team in the near future! Well done! Can't wait to see all the awards and accolades on the way.

I absolutely loved this movie so thoughtfully written and produced by Jemima Khan . My friend and I left the showing with a broad smile on our face and in these times of hardship that I is a rare thing. The movie was beautifully cast and the cross cultural element of the movie was sensitively handled by the Director . Some of the Asian characters reminded me of my own family specially the grandmother. I am in a cross cultural marriage my wife being Yorkshire lass so the story line resonated with my own story and I love my wife to see it. This is a movie I highly recommend you will leave the cinema happy promise!

This movie portrays an amazing story about the diverse cultures intertwining in the UK, as well as how South Asians in particular experience this cultural shock. I was lucky enough to be invited for its premiere a year before its release, and I cannot exaggerate how much I liked it, and how much I think other people will like it! This of course includes the Pakistani community both inside and outside the UK, but I feel like this movie would be popular with everyone given how well its been directed and thought out The plot is superb, and the characters all have interesting qualities to them. The movie conveys a complex topic in arranged marriages in a fun, humorous way and it is bound to be a success!
