quite confusing and weird but so intriguing to watch. ik it sounds weird but i hoped dawn and brandon ended up together, i js know he cares for her more than her family, they're trash.

Oh junior high. What hell that was. This movie doesn't whine or sugarcoat. It basically shows what jerks poor Dawn has to deal with. As usual, the bullies one is the most unique, interesting and likeable one. Those treating her badly are the ones who are a real mess. The poor gal doesn't even get peace at home! That makes this film so spot on. I wish schools would start teaching from day one that those who bully do it because they are miserable inside and it has nothing to do with their target. It might save society some problems.

You really have to see this film to understand just how memorable the movie is. I have seen it approx. 10 times, maybe more in the past few years and each time I have watched it I have thought it to be better each time. This movie is golden... The characters are so interesting, but in a very sad and shamefull way. Some of the most memorable lines in cinema history appear in this very movie! "Are you going to rape me now?" was said by a very sweet innocenet voice whom followed her rapist to the location in which the rape was to take place, i will says no more, just watch it!

I've always loved this movie. For some reason I'm always drawn to this movie. For some this movie may be slow and boring but I just love it.

Yes, this movie is pretty harsh. Yes, many of the situations may be hard to take in. However, the beauty of this movie is that although many of the situations may seem rough, Solondz presents them in a manner that isn't overdone or in your face. It's an honest film that does not lack integrity by forcing viewers to sympathize for the main characters, but shows the ups and downs of growing up. A truly remarkable film.

Dawn Weiner, one of the most pitiful characters ever created. You want to feel sorry for her, but then you want to be mad at her for all the ridicules things that she does. This isn't a triumph story of any kind, she doesn't really change all that much, things don't really get too much harder for her, the viewer just keeps getting introduced to new drama in Dawn's life. The way that the director is portraying middle school is literally unbelievable to someone who has ever went through middle school. Middle school children are cruel but they aren't generally that mean. They don't write your "nickname" on your locker. Most of the time your parents aren't as bad as they seem. The way the director has the parents hating dawn is flat out stupid. OF course Missy is perfect in everything that she does. It doesn't seem to even matter if she is being the most utterly annoying child in the universe, she is still little miss perfect. It is awful in that perspective.
