The tunnel tells us the story about a 9 km long tunnel and the catastrophic events that can happen if something went wrong. It's inspired by real life events, even though they didn't occur in this exakt sequence. Hopefully we'll have more safety regulations as an effect of this film. The film is executed very well. All from acting, to editing to the length of the scenes, to storytelling. All. One get's to follow a lot of characters which also is nice. You get this 'carpe diem' feeling because every day truly counts. Also, there are no unreal scenes really. That's kind of special for a disaster film as one tends to see the most unreal events happen. Not here. And that's a big positive for the film. Go ahead and watch it!

You'll spend more time rolling your eyes at the ridiculous plot & characters than you will watching the movie. It's inoffensive but I'd give it a miss.

Could have been so much better. It started quite interesting but then it went down the hill pretty fast. And all our hero wanted to do was to rescue his daughter and then 2 kids of some stupid mother who just left them there in a dark tunnel full of smoke. And how come these kids survived when most of the people just died. And by the way, I would like to know how this huge plow truck could turn around in this tunnel with all those cars parked there blocking at least one of the two lanes? Nonsense! No, not a good movie.

Good movie and very good as non American movies, good thriller movie but some over telling that people can't manage small accidents

I don't know if it was because of the dubbing, or just poor writing, but this movie was frightful. Was the soundtrack added in for American audiences? None of it matched the situation. Each character was over performing and unbelievable at the same time, and you never cared about anyone. Our main character hero was the worst one. You're a first responder life saver, but you don't seem interested in going the extra mile until you find out your daughter is in the tunnel. Now there's a reason to do your job as best as you can. Pathetic. I think I got to 73 minutes before I turned it off to do something else. Also, at no time did you ever feel a sense of danger or urgency.

I stumbled upon the 2019 Norwegian movie "Tunnelen" (aka "The Tunnel") by sheer random luck here in 2020. And given the last couple of years impressive disaster movies that have come from the Norwegian cinema, of course I had to sit down and watch "Tunnelen" as well. First of all, I was surprised to see Thorbjørn Harr in the lead, and I will say that he definitely carried the role and the movie quite well with his performance. "Tunnelen" was entertaining, for sure, however it did suffer a bit from being rather predictable. And that was a shame, because it slightly held the movie back from achieving further greatness. But worry not, I am not saying that "Tunnelen" is a bad or boring movie, far from it. Actually, I found the movie to be entertaining and enjoyable - just a shame that you knew exactly how the storyline would pan out from the very beginning. The movie takes place mostly in a smoke-filled tunnel, so you don't get to see much of the majestic landscapes of my ancestral home Norway. However, I will say that, while the movie took place mostly in a dark and smoke-filled environment, then the cinematography and camera-work was really good, and it felt like you were right there in the chaos alongside with the actors. "Tunnelen" had a good cast to fill out the various roles and characters, and they definitely contributed well to the overall enjoyment of the movie. I am rating "Tunnelen" a solid six out of ten stars. It is quite well-worth sitting down to watch, and I can warmly recommend this movie.
