The movie is a spoof on Monster films and so I don't think there is anything wrong with that. If you go in with expectations set high, then you might be disappointed. This is probably Rob Zombie's lowest budgeted film. However, it has that low budget charm is what makes it special. The set design was spectacular, lots of homages to the old Universal Monster films... and even some of the camera work was directly inspired by the James Whale Frankenstein movies. And so fans of those old Universal horror films will love this film. Stoner film? Definitely. This is a satirical comedy and not on the level of Rob's other films in terms of scope but then again, it's a different kind of movie. It supposed to look dated, like something out of a 1935 Hollywood lot.

The first trailer for this movie really shortchanged it. It looked terrible in that trailer. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it really wasn't that bad. All those scenes in the trailer were not that cringey in the actual movie. Personally, I loved it. It was cute, fun and funny. It's a good family movie. The sets and colors were really beautiful. I was chuckling throughout. The relationship between Herman and Grandpa was funny and the relationship between Herman and Lily was sweet. It really stayed true to the spirit of the original show, which I very much appreciated. Stylistically it does feel like a Rob Zombie movie, except that it is perfectly innocent. I would like to see a sequel, but I doubt that will happen after the damage that first trailer dealt.

If you're a Zombie fan, be prepared because this isn't his typical gore horror. Zombie has expressed his love for the Munsters over the years. And he delivered a fun flick! From the acting to the color scheme, the film is a fun watch. My parents watched the Munsters, so I grew up watching a few episodes too. I think Sheri and Daniel nailed the mannerisms and voice of Lilly and Grandpa. I enjoyed Jeff's presence but wish there were a few more scenes with him and Grandpa. Overall, the film left me wanting more. I think Zombie should consider doing a sequel. As a longtime fan, I would watch it again! Bravo, Zombie, and Munsters team!

The Munsters (2022) is a movie my wife and I watched on Netflix last night. The storyline follows a legacy Transylvanian family that's daughter is up for marriage but is struggling to find a worthwhile suitor. However, a recently created monster, named Hermann Munster, is making the local news and rise in the underground rock arena and appears bound to be a star. When he meets the daughter looking for a husband it may be the spark to stardom for both of them. This movie is directed by Rob Zombie (House of 1,000 Corpses) and stars Sheri Moon Zombie (The Lords of Salem), Jeff Daniel Phillips (Westworld), Richard Brake (Barbarian), Jorge Garcia (Cooties) and Daniel Roebuck (The Fugitive). The look and feel of this movie had so much potential. The makeup, lighting, sets, attire, props and cinematography is magnificent. This is a fun movie to watch...if you shut the volume off. The writing is absolutely horrendous. The storyline, jokes, one liners and all of the humor was a huge miss. I did enjoy the transition and depiction of America and the ending setup for a television series/sequel spinoff. But getting through this movie was brutal. Overall, this had everything it needed for success but solid writing. I would score this a 4/10 and try seeing it once.
