I think you go into this movie expecting it to be "entertaining" (obviously) and maybe cute. It certainly has those qualities, but what separates it from other competition documentaries is its tenderness. It's incredibly moving and one of the most authentic displays of perseverance. There's also such a lovely lightness to it. The characters are so witty and captivating. You find yourself falling in love with certain pieces of all of them, while simultaneously picking your favorites to win. You can't watch this movie without smiling, laughing, and being thoroughly entertained by the talent and the spirit displayed by the piano players. Their positivity and commitment is contagious. I've never seen a documentary where the audience reacts like they are actually at the subject event. It's more than a competition documentary. It's more than a movie. It's an experience.
