Calling this movie trash is a disservice to trash. There are so many red flags in this movie I don't know where to start. This movie somehow very clumsily made the former abuser the good guy? Loool Like what?!!!! Because he found Jesus, he is somehow redeemed and therefore humanized to be the heroe?!! Like where is the therapy? Where is the real in-depth confrontation with his choices? Because he says "sorry" and found Jesus it's now ok? Ohhh because he dies, I'm now supposed to feel even more sorry for him I felt such shame watching this movie. I think this movie might actually be pro-abuser.

The scriptwriters of "Still Falling" must have been dropped on their heads as babies and deprived of oxygen affecting their brain development. This film is an endorsement of the cavalier attitude that Nigeria and Nollywood carry towards abusive relationships. In the first 20 minutes, the film anchors itself in a dismissive attitude toward the male protagonist's abuse. He described how he physically and mentally abused Bono, in a manner in which he should have seen serious jail time or at the very least disgust from his friends. Yet within the same frame less than 3 minutes later he and his friends are laughing about his criminal antics. The narcissistic and psychopathic nature of the male protagonist is demonstrated in the fact that instead of leaving Bono in peace after a solemn apology, he decided to force his way back into her new successful life. The only redeeming factor of this film is that the male character dies at the end of the movie - but the fact that his death is mourned makes it a weak redemption. It is an embarrassment that in 2021 this film still chooses to promote such harmful narratives with A-list Nollywood actors, smiling and laughing. The fact that this film is also supposed to have a faith angle is also laughable - there is no character development or true remorse let alone repentance for salvation for this male protagonist. If I could give the movie negative stars, I would, so instead, I reluctantly give it a one.
