I am jazzed this got an official release on DVD, I can finally retire my VHS ripped DVD. I was like most disappointed at the lack of special features. But you can get a commentary form David Knells website, and it is well worth money I mean 4 bucks is nothing and makes watching the movie even more funny. I was sad to learn tonight about Paul Land , real name Paul Callandrillo had passed away in 2007. I have watched this movie so many times I am ashamed to admit how many. Out of all of the oddball beach movies this is hands down the best one ever made. Goods tunes, hilarious characters and well of course the beautiful girls. And how can you forget Nelsons dad getting arrested and just shouting sh#t. People pick this one up, go to Davids website and buy the commentary.

"Spring Break" is nothing more than an exploitive teen flick, but that is exactly what it set out to be. Following in the footsteps of the immensely popular "Porky's", this movie ups the nudie and the cheese ten fold. The entire film is a fine slice of swiss, with college drinking games and mayhem. You will probably not find another film that features more beer being dumped on everyone than this film. This is a movie that brings back those nostalgic days of the 80's, where everything was about having fun. What other movie could get away with a guy urinating on an alligator?
As far as 80's teen comedies go, this might just be the holy grail. While it doesn't have all that many moments of intentional hilarity, the entire film is full of lovably cheesy and wild antics. It is about four guys having the time of their lives, and it is great. The soundtrack is stocked with some great 80's bands like 38 Special and NRBQ, complete with MTV-style editing.
This film certainly wont win any awards, but it sure is one electric and fun trip back to the 80's. Never a dull moment, "Spring Break" is a film definitely worth saving from those dust covered VHS shelves! Forget "Friday the 13th", this is Sean Cunningham's masterpiece!

Four male college students -- uptight Nelson (a solid and appealing performance by David Knell), his more laid-back pal Adam (affable Perry Lang), smooth dude Stu (hunky Paul Land), and rowdy O.T. (a marvelously raucous portrayal by Steve Bassett) -- go to Fort Lauderdale, Florida during spring break so they let it all hang out and party hearty. Director Sean S. Cunningham, working from a blithely inane and immaterial script by David Smilow, perfectly nails the pervasive sense of carefree joy and abandon that's the very easygoing essence of spring break: we've got a gnarly-rockin' soundtrack, a plethora of beautiful babes in skimpy bikinis, a bellyflop diving competition, both wet t-shirt and He-shirt contests (meaning there's yummy eye candy for guys and gals alike), mass consumption of beer, some romance, and a pleasing amount of delicious bare female skin all served up hot and lively in a gloriously vibrant and unapologetic celebration of pure mindless hedonism. Moreover, the main characters are quite likable and this film is less raunchy and more good-natured than most of its ilk. The cast have a field day with the cheerfully silly material: Knell, Lang, Land, and Bassett make for engaging leads, radiant and ravishing former "Penthouse" Pet of the Year Corinne Alphen positively lights up the screen as fiery rock singer Joan, Jayne Modean is a sweet treat as endearing cutie Susie, plus there are nifty contributions by Daniel Faraldo as hip motel clerk Eesh, Richard B. Schull as smarmy jerk Eddie, Jessica James as cool motel owner Geri, and Donald Symington as Nelson's stern, corrupt killjoy politician dad Ernest Dalby. The adorable Sheila Kennedy has a regrettably minor role as the spunky Carla, but at least she goes topless during the wet t-shirt contest. Steven Poster's bright cinematography offers lots of picturesque shots of the sunny seaside Florida locations. Harry Manfredini's funky-boppin' score hits the groovy spot. Sure, this film is complete dopey fluff, but it's got a snappy pace and giddy quality to it which in turn makes it a total delightfully brainless blast from the dynamic 80's past.

Burn this film. Every print, every tape. Let's make a big bonfire. A number of films deserve this fate, and Spring Break is one of them: it's a gutter-minded "Gidget." Pass this one by if you value sanity.

Please Hollywood stop making boring movies with guys searching for the love of their lives!!When you are 20 21 you don't love girls!!!You love taking them to bed and drinking all day!!!!!!!!!!!I want the 80's movies style again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For anyone who didn't make it to Fort Lauderdale in the 80s for Spring Break, this is as good as it gets. Luxuriate in the process of getting wild, drunk, lucky and laid along with Nelson, Adam, Stu and O.T. in the last hotel room in town. It's all about the fun, except that Last American Virgin Nelson is hounded by his politician stepfather and his bumbling henchman, Eddie Potmore. A timeless comedy that should be a required course in how to have fun before you grow up.
There is some great music by .38 Special, "Caught Up In You", that accompanies some wacky hotel shenanigans that NO young adult should ever, ever have to endure, but I suspect a few may have. There are no statements to be made at all. No attempts at anything heavy in this movie, ala Porky's. It is just pure fun from start to finish. I still watch it occasionally, and I highly recommend it to anyone who missed it.

Please do not confuse this film with any other spring break movie made in the last ten years. This movie is vintage 80s and has the killer soundtrack to match. I saw it when I was a kid one late night while my parents were asleep and it's been near and dear to my heart ever since. It's about a rich kid who comes to Spring Break in search of love and adventure and finds both. Other than that it has Corrine Alpha singing, many shots of Spring Break rituals and romance. The thing that separates this film from many of the other Lauderdale flicks is that it has a heart. It's a heart that likes to flash it's breasts to the beat of "Caught Up in You" by 38 Special but it's a heart none the less. David Knell is adorable and if you blink you'll miss a great butt shot of Jeff Garlin from Curb Your Enthusiasm as a drunk guy who moons the camera. Fun for everyone.

This is a wonderful film that captures so much of the early 1980's feeling at spring break, before the commercial exploitation and the cheap video cam made it a display. It is a warm film despite its attempts at gross comedy. My favorite line is OT upon reaching the motel, handed a beer he drains the entire quart and says "beer is like...f**king great". That captures the spirit of the movie. There is also a tender love story and a silly sideline about evil politicians. The love interest in the movie is one of the hottest women ever to grace the screen, and all of the characters of wonderfully funny and memorable. Ish (EESH) the bellboy at the motel, grabs a strip of satin hanging from a wall painting and shakes it "Sanitized for your protection", then says "You want anything you see eesh, you need anything you come to eesh, you get in troubles ... they work themselves out." I love this movie, as you can tell. It was what we at the time wanted spring break to be.

Pointless film about two nerds (David Knell, Perry Lang) who go to Ft. Lauderdale FL to celebrate spring break. They end up rooming with two studs (Paul Land, Steve Bassett) and the movie chronicles their supposedly "hilarious" misadventures while there.
OK--I don't know what I was expecting watching this but I didn't expect anything as bad as THIS! The "story" was stupid and predictable to an annoying extreme with clichéd characters and stupid situations. The acting was, at best, OK. Land and Bassett were nice eye candy but Knell and Lang weren't. The jokes in the film were abysmal. I think I smiled once. And, worst of all, there was next to NO T&A! I could care less about it but let's face it--the prime audience for this is horny teenage guys. They WANT gratuitous female nudity and this movie has very little. There is a somewhat nice soundtrack but that's not enough to sit through this. A 1 all the way.
