My Cam

A brief snippet of the University of Cambridge team during the charity bike ride from Oxford to Cambridge in 2009. The team will be raising money again in 2010 by completing the London to Cambridge bike ride.

Shortlisted competition entry by Charlotte Fleming. "I'm not a party girl, more quietly sociable with small groups. As such I spend a lot of time in my room, working, eating and socialising. I felt that this view of Cambridge related well to the sense of insularity about the university and parts of the town. Just as there are negative and positive elements to what is sometimes called 'The Cambridge Bubble', so there are good and bad points about the size and function of my room."

shortlisted competition entry by Alex Calverley. "It was filmed entirely on Wednesday 4th November, ans was designed to document the many things that happen in my department, and to the people in it on that day. The first half is an introduction to the 3 main buildings that make up the Institute of astronomy and what they contain. The second half focuses on the great variety of events from morning coffee, to bread and cheese lunch, to a Martin Rees lecture, and finally with public observing."

Shortlisted competition entry by Thomas Woolford. "This is a short film about various features of cycling in Cambridge, filmed this autumn around the city. For thousands of students, their academic and social life 'resolves' around their bicycles!"

Shortlisted competition entry by Toby Parnell. "This is a film about what it takes to be a cyclist for the university. Cycling up to 400 miles a week, fitting this in around work, friends and the weather!"
