Dungo recalls how she grew up learning the meticulous craft and eventually honing her skills to make a living at a young age. She also shares how she faced life challenges after some of her loved ones died. She then talks about single-handedly raising her children through making clay pots. Finally, Dungo presents the traditional way of making quality clay pots. "Local Legends" learns how tradition breeds profits in the village of Mabilong in Lubuagan, Kalinga. The program introduces Iglay Tallog, the best back strap weaver in Mabilong. Tallog looks back on her childhood, recalling how she learned to weave at a young age. She then proceeds to show the meticulous process of weaving as she makes a 'silaksakaw,' a cloth which illustrates where bowls, plates, and various kitchenware are often placed. Cirilio Bawer, a community elder, commends the skill of Tallog and discusses the history and importance of weaving in their town. Tallog says weaving will always be etched in her heart and that she will continue to weave until her dying day. "Local Legends" introduces Alejandro Bangcaya, a long-time jeepney mechanic of Sarao Motors. The program learns how long Bangcaya has been making propellers for Sarao jeepneys. Bangcaya then explains in great detail the process of making jeepneys. Sarao Motors production manager Edgardo Sarao recalls when the company was forced to halt production and downsize its employees due to rising costs. Sarao and Bangcaya's colleagues also commend the old mechanic’s work ethic and skills in making jeepney propellers. Philippine jazz artist Bob Aves (+) opened our second season. Educated at the Berklee College of Music, Bob realized that developing musical skills steeped in Western tradition and having a foreign idol as inspiration (he was into Miles Davis) are important. He said, however, that there is a next step that most Filipino musicians forget and that is the need to become themselves.
