Loud music as previously stated. Awkward scenes, made awkward, terrible acting. You can see the emotions being thought out and not executed well. I love cheesy, predictable movies that show up on lifetime. This is NOT one of them...

Jessica marries Simon Prescott whose rich family harbors many secrets. His dad dies and they return home to the family estate called Rockledge for his funeral which looks like it's the only property on top of a mountain. Anyway, Jessica is not welcomed by Simon's family who think she is after the family fortune. Lots of twists and turns in this movie but the ending was too rushed and the music overshadowed the dialogue at times or would have given it a higher rating! Still recommended, though!

I agree with the other comment that states the music is too loud. It's nearly unbearable. Not only that, the protagonist cries horribly, and is really not a good actor. I love lifetime movies because they are usually corny and entertaining, but this one is a little too much. The storyline is unoriginal, so with the loud music and the bad acting, it has little to offer. I gave four stars because it was entertaining enough.

The constant loud music was annoying & I could barely hear what they were saying. The plot was laughable & unrealistic. I didnt believe for a second that this was a real family. The acting was terrible, especially the husband who was clearly only hired for his muscles & not any acting ability. Anything is better than sitting through this.

I agree with another contributor that it is reminiscent of Secrets in the Mansion but better? In that movie, the protag did some truly stupid things as if she didn't take the danger seriously, but here Jess had a bit more self-preservation and survival instincts. Some things I liked were the general mood of the movie. The former first wife that everyone talks about mysteriously gave the movie a Lifetime-y "Rebecca" feel (except the "First Mrs. Prescott" has a face). It also reminded me of the VC Andrews movies which I contribute to the cinematography. The location was beautiful, which also gave it a Manderley-esque vibe. I loved the outside shots and the long winding roads. The only thing that sort of confused me was the anachronisms. Simon, the husband, seemed stuck in the 40s style-wise, so it kept throwing me off. Then of course the vintage cars, phones, etc. A few times, it wasn't clear whether it was a period piece. It wasn't ultimately distracting but it did have me curious. I liked the set up of the beginning with Simon and Jess getting to know each other prior to their engagement. Sometimes Lifetime does not adequately show developing couples, so it was nice that they fleshed them out a bit. I saw that the leads only have a few credits, but I think they carried the movie pretty well. There were a few times I was genuinely on edge for Jess. I absolutely agree about the music and this is a common complaint from myself and others. I always joke that the loud music is like a cast member. They could do better with this. After all, the violins in Psycho weren't screeching the entire time. The plot was decent and easy to follow. Nothing overly complicated. The villain (or villains? I won't tell) was not my first guess, so the movie kept me wondering until the reveal. I think the movie gave options for whodunit which helped the suspense throughout. I believed their motivation (not justified, but I understood it), so that's always a plus. I'd say this is one of the good premieres this year, along with: Sex, Lies, and Murder...My Husband's Killer Girlfriend, The Perfect Wedding, and A Professor's Vengeance.

Pathetic plot, pathetic acting. Director and music guy and sound supervisors should never ever get another job! Seriously I kept twitching and cussing loudly at the tv the entire movie. Anyone gives a good review for this garbage should seek mental health therapy!

I had to use cc so I could read what they were saying. The (background) music was so loud that I couldn't hear the actors! I Most of the time the music is very loud, but I can at least hear them. Please take my advice and take the music from the lead, on most of your movies, to background music. More elderly people will be able to watch this channel! I don't understand why you're the only channel that has this problem. Good news the movie was great!

The movie was called "Secrets in the Mansion" aka "Crazy, Rich, and Deadly" and the plot outline was very similar to this one. (Girlfriend meets boyfriend's somewhat weird family and bad things start to happen.} This said, this movie reminds me of why I like most LMN movies: 1. Attractive cast of characters, with decent acting. 2. Beautiful photography and good sets (they must be someone's actual residences.) 3. Interesting plot twist, and a twist on that.... 4. Only complaint - the music at times was so LOUD that I had trouble understanding the dialogue. But this seems to be the complaint of a lot of LMN movies. 7/10.
