I love the novel. And I admire, as good reminder of the images from book, this adaptation. It is unfair to critic it. Because it gives , in honest manner, the atmosphere, Brideshead,a lovely lady Marchmain and a realistic Sebastian. Maybe, Matthew Goode is not the best option for Charles and not for his artistic skills but for a subjective perspective of mine. In essence, he does a good job and he use the story in decent manner for give to his character credibility. For me, the revelation , the real beautiful surprise is the performance of Greta Scacchi as Cara. I imagine, reading the book, very different. But the option for her iis brilliant. Another good point - Patrick Malahide as the father of Charles Ryder. Short, a beautiful adaptation.
