First of all, Dont Agree with the critics review at all. I think they completely missed the point of such a well put together and amazing movie. I think they are also forgetting that it is a movie and it doesnt mean that whats happening in life... It is entertainment abd it certainly ebtertains....... Great aussie film and one of the best I have seen. It is very sad at times, surprising at times and very unexpected times. It is a movie that has you guessing along the way and by the end you have all your answers... No give aways from me... Amazing, brilliant, musical, talented and emotional ride... HIGHLY RECOMMEND...

I watched this one because it rated an 8.7. I suspect friends and family of people who were involved in the making of this film voted multiple times. I'm not saying it was bad, but it wasn't that great. It seemed like a two-hour soap opera. The acting was okey. But the writing was just so so. It was rather predictable and it went on far too long. It could have easily been done in a little over an hour. And when I read headlines for reviews that say "Amazing Movie with surprises along the way..." I should be a little suspicious. So if you're looking for a film that's been done before and you have some time to kill, check it out. I just with I had that two hours back.

Jye Currie's first feature, BEAT, is a complex, slow burn story of connection and emotion. It is a confronting look at how the income gaps in Australia can colour perspectives of people, but also that kindness is sometimes the most valuable currency we have. Jye Currie's direction is intimate, slow, focused. He let's the story unfold at a beautiful pace with a captivating classical score over it. Anchored by the engrossing and vulnerable performance of Rachel Carpani, Jye lets the audience deduce moments of the story. It is subtle, elegant while also being quite confronting at times. A very promising up and coming director!

Beat is an incredible film that tells an extremely intriguing story filled with an extraordinary music score, meaningful characters, beautiful scenes and unexpected twists! It is well written, characters are well acted, every scene is intelligently shot and directed! I highly recommend taking the time to watch this film and let it take you on a roller coaster of emotion as it tackles the very real world of homelessness, substance abuse and working in the live music industry. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this film, without getting into spoilers, it left me feeling surprised, empathetic, moved and satisfied that made me want to watch the film again with the additional knowledge of my first viewing, being even more enthralled the second time around and blown away yet again. I cannot sing this film enough praises!

First heard of them film when someone on instagram announced they knew someone they knew was going to be in this but had to ultimately withdraw due to the 'goat show' happening in NSW at the time, I held my breathe baited until I saw this. What an amazing piece this is. Showing the lights and sounds of Newcastle at its very very best. Jye Currie is a tremendous director who brings to light just how confronting the movie can be at times. The music was just one of the most hauntingly beautiful things to listen to, the emotions of everyone involved was amazing. Jye if you read this, i look forward to your next project. This is worth watch after watch after watch.
