the plot starts out simple, big meteor goes bang = nuclear winter, 3 years P.I (post impact) someone uses a microwave beam to destroy a plane. a team of military types head for Berlin, where the control point for the satellite is - lead by their colonel, with 2 civilians, our hero, who used to work for the colonel and wants to go to Berlin to find his wife and daughter (who he finds at the end, dead) and the daughter of the lead scientist who was in charge of the satellite. One 'truck'was destroyed by ice, the other was blown up by a few evil guys shooting at our guys, so they headed inside where they found 250 survivors. they were getting all their food supplied from the doctor (who was the lead scientist) and his distributors. they go to see him to find out about the satellite, turns out his distributors have betrayed him and the doctors assistant is crazy, sitting in the control room. well they kill the doctor and the military types enlist the help of the survivors to provide a distraction while they storm the control block. only the colonel, the daughter, the second in command, and our hero. our hero leaves to go check on his dog, while the second in command decides she is going to shoot her boss (she does), then she holds a gun to the head of the daughter, telling her to aim the beam at the Arabic states, to make then put down the price of oil, our hero returns to save the day, kill the evil second in command and with the help of the daughter, uses the beam to kick stars the worlds climate. resulting in the sun rising.
the effects are not blockbuster material, but its not a blockbuster type film, the acting could be better and some things don't make sense, such as its -57degrees outside, but you cant see any breath and they don't freeze to death, (which while its a good thing, it's not very realistic,) i recommend the film - just don't look for errors enjoy the film, really get into it and the 'wooden-ness' wont effect you.
its like a 'day after tomorrow' film, only not as dramatic or blockbuster-ish
