I loved the movie "Love's Long Journey", and actually just finished watching a sequel called "Love's Unending Legacy". The movies were wonderful and very touching, but I was quite disappointed that both (actually all of the Love Saga) movies differed so much from the book. I am a very avid reader and have always preferred books over movies - partially because I find it to be a very rare movie that is true to the book. I did appreciate that the movies' directors stayed true to the faith of their original characters. I would recommend the movies for a great family outing or home-viewing, but I would also recommend that you read the books with your family. My daughters and I shared many happy hours reading the books together.

Firstly I'd like to say how proud I think Michael Landon Sr. is with his sons work. I can't understand why people constantly compare films with original books because there is never normally the time for films to replicate what is contained in a book although changes in story etc can be off-putting I know. That said, I personally liked this film, the characters, preferred the actress Erin Cottrell in the lead role and thought there were some excellent performances from actors in other parts like John Savage,Frank McRae and William Morgan Sheppard POSS.SPOILER :-who had one of the best lines of the film,it certainly makes you swallow hard, when he said 'This is the first present I've ever got' or words to that effect when Missie gave all the Ranch-hands something for Christmas. There are Christian messages in the film in more than one place and I thought this made the film.It was very easy going and nice to watch and I would recommend it to anyone.

Cliché ridden film with a young couple setting out to settle in the west. They're religious and Missy hasn't told her husband that she is with child.
He hires ranch hands who run the gamut from different groups. Of course, there is a menacing trio who keep putting on scarfs by their faces as they go along robbing along the countryside.
There are Indians next to our couple and it looks like our husband is about to be bias towards them until his loving lord fearing wife sets him straight on that matter.
Missy teaches the Indian children and when winter comes, school is let out. What would our current education secretary say about that?
One of the young robbers has a younger brother who idolizes him. The gang eventually threatens our lovely couple along with their hired hands. Sonny, the older brother, takes a bullet when he realizes that he is doing wrong. There is a brief dying scene by him as the preacher tells him about where he is going. Naturally, with his death, the young couple raise the younger brother as their own.
Along comes the baby and there is a season for everything. It's such a sweet Hallmark film. The theme has been repeated over and over again. Great for those in love with the settling of the frontier.

From first seeing this third movie, I have been intensely disappointed at the replacement of January Jones. She was perfect as the older Missy, whose younger version was definitely not a Miss Goodie-Goodie. Jones matched the younger Missy's personality very well. Her replacement seems larger, not delicate, too smiley and forced perky and is not a good match for Willie. I liked the ranch hands much better than I did Missy. I haven't read the books. The first two movies made me interested in reading them. If I had seen just this one, I don't think I would have that interest. After reading some of the other viewer's comments, I want to read the books to see if they really are better than the movie plots. Little House is an American legend, but those who read Laura's books, know that Michael Landon took considerable dramatic license with his stories as the show progressed.

Much has already been written about this film. The only thing I have to add is how disappointed I am that the screenplay strayed so very, very far from the book. The movie while wholesome and entertaining could have been much better had it stuck to the original story. The thing I liked least? The three bad guys who were never in the book and how a very pregnant Missy overtook one of them. COME ON! I will not recommend this movie. I'm so sorry. I really am. I tuned in hoping to see Janet Okes story come to life. I am so disappointed. This was my favorite book in the series. I wanted to see the wagon train and all the things that happened along the way. I wanted to see the sod house. I wanted to see more of the town where Willie left Missy to have her baby. And has anyone figured out just how long this girl was pregnant? For like a year at least. Why was cookie portrayed like some stereotypical old black guy? Not how I saw him at all. I am going to the library at church tomorrow and I'm going to have to re-read my beloved stories to get this pooey old movie version out of my head.

I used to be a big fan of the Little House on the Prairie. To see Landon Jr. following in the footsteps of his father and creating quality TV programs is amazing. When I saw the previews for the "Love" series, I knew I would be watching. The previews brought me back to watching Michael Landon all over again. I just watched all three of the "Love" series and I believe them to be good family entertainment. When I first began watching "Love Comes Softly", I was reminded of another favorite of mine, "Anne of Green Gables". The way people and families come together to help one another is a powerful thing in both series. Love Comes Softly was definitely my favorite of the three "Love" series, and "Love's Enduring Promise was also excellent. As for "Love's Long Journey" it was good, the only thing I didn't like about the movie was the fact that Missie's family was not in the movie as well. I am glad I continued and watched all three in the series. I plan to read the books and hope to see a fourth added to the series soon with all the cast.

I didn't really think this series was going to be my type of movie, though I have always liked a good romance. It definitely reminds me of Little House on the Prairie. I'm sure we all know why that is. When I watched this movie the first time, I cried throughout. It is absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend watching the entire series, especially watching them in the proper order. If you can't find a place to rent them, they would be well worth the purchase! I'm just trying to save up money so I can buy them for myself. I wish Little House on the Prairie would come out on DVD as well so I could add it to my collection. Unless it's come out and I just haven't found it yet?
