Fatal Fandom Pop star hires security guard as her personal 24/7 bodyguard, whom she allows to live in her house, unaware that he's a psycho with a vengeful murderous agenda. At least this time, the huge palatial mansion was believable since she was a wealthy celebrity - unlike the many Lifetime movies where the huge resort-like mansions are the homes of common folk with healthcare jobs and single moms struggling to get by, behind on bills (a frequent complaint of mine in my reviews here). I knew the attack by the guy with the gun at the beginning was set-up by the psycho security guard to get Eden to like and remember him and then eventually hire him as her bodyguard, which means I've watched way too many LMN flicks since it's an oft-used plot device by the psycho stalker to endear the victim to him. A huge plot hole: Jackson was more than willing to get hot and heavy with Eden when they finally kissed on her patio, yet his motive for maneuvering himself into her life and her house was because he hated her for what he perceived as her role in his sister's suicide. If he hated her so much, how could he be so passionate about making love to her? Finally - the insanely dumb ending: I had to rewind it to make sure I heard Eden and Christian correctly. Christian: "I liked your remix." Eden: "I did too." This, right after they've both just been through the harrowing experience of a psycho murderer terrorizing them and killing Eden's best friend right in front of her - not to mention the bad guy still tied up and gagged in the storage room. Do they immediately rush to a phone to call the police as soon as they're able to? NO, of course not - they cuddle and stare up at the sky while blood pours down the back of Christian's head where Jackson had clocked him in his murderous rampage. And as anyone who's watched Lifetime movies knows - the villain ALWAYS gets back up after being shot/stabbed/knocked out/etc. And goes after the protag again and again like a mindless robot. Yet neither Christian nor Eden even look back at Jackson even once to make sure he's down for good. Sometimes I wonder about the intelligence and maturity level of the writers of these LMN flicks.... I really do. Grade D / 2 out of 10.

Eden Chase (Chaley Rose) is a singer pop star who was attacked by a fan and saved by a security guard who she hires to protect her. This is a Lifetime Film, shame on you if you don't have the rest of the movie figured out from the title. They let you know what was going on from about 30 minutes into the production. Plot, acting, and singing were not that great.

First off, this movie is played extremely straight by the synopsis, so I appreciate that. There are no surprises, or should I say no gotchas. Dare I say in spite of being a psycho, Jackson's logic sort of followed? He associated Eden's song with his sister's death and he pretty much just killed everyone he considered even tangentially responsible. I mean, for a Lifetime villain, that...made...sense. In his villain monologue, he explains his reasoning for each person. There is the issue of the common Lifetime trope where the people around the protag get killed, but technically in this case, Jackson didn't consider them innocent. So it's good that it wasn't her naivete or idiocy that got her friends killed. I kind of agree with another contributor...the movie ends with Eden and Christian staring off into the sky...Jackson was bleeding from the head, but not sure if that meant he was dead. Maybe they should call the police before they got too comfy. Also, there are multiple dead bodies around...plus a guy bound and gagged in the basement who doesn't know what the heck is going on. (that guy's going to jail, but he should still be found lol). One of the better ones of 2022. I have seen Chaley Rose in romcom movies and she did well here in a "thriller." I would likely watch again.

Eden Chase is a famous pop star who needs a bodyguard after an attack. Enter Jackson Reed, a security guard who becomes her personal bodyguard and ends up living at her home!!! Big mistake since Jackson is also attracted to her in a creepy way and ends up murdering those around her to protect her? But why and what secret does he have? You will have to tune in. Definitely worth a watch!!!

A lot of glittery outfits and pretty scenery. I don't think there was anything special about the main character as her appearance was mediocre and her music was quite boring, but as a fictional pop star she was meant to be the big star. She felt scared when a stalker appears in her life. So she hires a security guard for her house, but he's well liked by many. He's the one to watch out for, because the stalker isn't part of the plot. There's a number of holes in the story, such as why the security guard would want to sleep with popstar when he hates her so much. Also why none of her friends told her that security guard assaulted one of them. Otherwise a good film but sudden ending.

The strength of "Fatal Fandom" was in evoking the comaraderie of the creative team around the superstar pop singer Miss Eden Chase. It was fun to get to know the pressures of stardom and all that is involved in recording sessions and preparing concerts. The gist of the film was the hiring of a bodyguard to protect Miss Chase after she was nearly attacked and kidnapped. Jackson Reed is hired for security, and he moves into the "east wing" of Eden's mansion. There was a great scene of Eden and Jackson eating tacos with the crunching sounds of the taco shells picked up in the recording. There was not much suspense in developing who is the villain. But the major disappointment of the film was in the implausible revenge scenario and the collateral damage incurred to so many of those within Eden's inner circle. The oily music producer Ozzie, the dedicated manager Colette, the ex-boyfriend Lee, and Eden's best friend Addison were all unnecessary victims. A thread that was underdeveloped in the film was the possible damaging effects on young people from popular music and lyrics that may be interpreted in ways not intended by the singer. This was a crucial detail in a life cut short in the character of Tess, the younger sister of Eden's bodyguard. Another flaw was the film's abrupt ending that lacked any kind of closure to the tragic circumstances involving Eden and her team. The film's cast was great in conveying the excitement of working for an international celebrity. But the screenplay could have explored more completely and without the excessive violence the theme of how popular music may result in fatal fandom.

I would have given this one more star if not for the ending. I thought the acting was alright. The storyline was interesting. Granted, there were scenes when I zoned out. But after fighting for her life, and seeing her BFF killed, and her ex dead, and Christian emerging alive after having his skull almost cracked open, Christian says to Eden "I really liked your remix". Eden responds "I did too". Really! There are dead bodies surrounding you, and a man tied up in your basement screaming to the top of his lungs, and this is what you say to each other.
