That was unfortunately so overreacted and unnatural. It was also based on lying and in support of the USA that had a key role in this war. I could watch it till the end with such a frustration. Dont waste your time. I promise you lose absolutely nothing.

If you have one empathic bone in your body you can't help but feel for the people Marie Colvin wrote about and Marie herself, despite her self medication and arguably self destructive nature. Pike plays Marie as so driven by her need to tell these stories that she regularly throws her safety away and allows herself to be emotionally damaged as well. The movie builds to the extreme violence in Syria and one scene in particular that will haunt me due to the rampant and indiscriminate death rained down by government forces. While the supporting cast does a great job, Pike is amazing and should garner Oscar attention for it. This will be a difficult movie to watch but Marie's story is important because you should really know all her stories.

(Flash Review) This is a smartly produced portrait of the famous was reporter Marie Colvin that is well-edited and paced between her in the field war action intertwined with her personal life and her mental anguish that haunt her: PTSD. And despite all the atrocities she sees and endures, she keeps going back for more so the stories can be told in hopes of change. This is a smartly and captivatingly edited film with good pacing and raw emotions. The viewer is get a true sense of being a reporter while dodging explosions and being witness to a few atrocities. While it does reference some actual battles and political strife, the focus remains on Colvin and doesn't become a modern political mouthpiece for a particular agenda, although it may depict only one side, it didn't feel preachy. Overall, this was a nicely balanced story of Colvin's career and personal life.

Rosamund Pike puts in a great central performance and couldn't take my eyes off the screen thanks to the high intensity of the performance. Yes the film isn't entirely accurate and doesn't show everything that really happened particularly in Libya and Syria but as an entertainment piece done on a very low budget it was very good and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Like with most things nowadays take things with a punch of salt at times and do your own research rather than presuming everything to be factual. Overall a great film about a great woman.

Currently rated at 6.7 I find this very low for this outstanding film. It has a strong message on the truth of journalism and the personal bravery of Marie Colvin in her reporting under dangerous conditions in many different war zones. If not for reporters probing and being eye witnesses to the devastation caused by war our world would be diminished. We need them. This film, beyond a doubt, demonstrates this - and also their own personal demons that they suffer from providing us with the journalism in these war zones. Marie Colvin paid the ultimate price. An outstanding performance from Rosamund Pike giving us a complex portrayal of Marie Colvin.

For people with no previous knowledge, this film is just another brainwashing of the American government. For people who have dealt with the wars of the Americans and know why the Americans invaded Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria, this film is just a joke. This film deserves at most one star and that because it shows the suffering that was going on in the countries, but only the bad dictators of the countries are to blame for these acts. The American soldiers are of course always friends and helpers of the people and we continue to believe in Santa Claus.

"War is the quiet bravery of the civilians who would endure far more than I ever will" Marie Colvin, the most celebrated war correspondent The trauma that she witnesses, the personal toll that it takes, a high society elite who has the audacity to stand tall and beard the most notorious dictators, who constantly faces her own personal demons and still sets new limits to bravery and being tested for bravado. Whether it's Sri Lanka or Iraq, Afghanistan or Syria.. the war counts the ones at the front but sometimes casts aside the civilians ... the peaceful uprising in Syria that turned into a genocide as President Assad ordered bombing innocent civilians tagging them as terrorists!!! How could one at such inhumane times continue believing in humanity!!!! True story, biopic of a combat-journalism rock star. Hard reporting infused with humanity that would tug your heartstrings. . A gritty unflinching screenplay. Commendable performance by Rosamund Pike.
