I haven't read the second book, and am a little confused by the movie as it seems to stop at the end of the first book. And the barbarian is missing! Other than that fantastic movie. I'd love to read the rest of the series. I didn't expect it to be a perfect adaptation of the book, or to live up to what I imagined, so I'm quite pleased by the movie. And Tim curry's hair looks fantastic in this movie. I don't remember, did all wizards wear only red in the book? I just can't remember and was thinking it's weird. Love that scars voice actor is in here, though, his voice gives me chills lol.

Trymon in this movie is so evil, I don't remember him like that in the book. Obviously this movie missing a lot from the original story, but I expected less from this movie, so it's not that bad)) Have to say that second part of the show is not interesting me to watch.

I loved the books and seeing all the characters was great fun! From a cinematic perspective however, the movie falls short. It's no master piece, but it doesn't pretend to one either.
If you loved the disc world series, it's definitely worth seeing this movie. Otherwise, stop staring at your screen and go read the books!

Our family loved this movie. We have seen both Hogfather and The Color of Magic. Both are excellent movies. The Color of Magic has some slow spots, but the ending is wonderful and worth the time spent. The characters develop very well. For the most part the acting is very good and the special effects are excellent. The cinematography overall is of very good quality. The only drawback to the movie is there are some scenes that were not necessary and over-explained the story. I have not read the novel so I do not know how the movie compares to the book, however, the movie is very enjoyable, and in being so respects the work of the author. We highly recommend this fun, family movie.

I'm not going to rate the show, but the 30 seconds I watched looked pretty cheesy. It was a battle scene between a bunch of wizards. Looed like some kids in the back yard with wooden guns. Cheeseball special effects added later.
I watched Hogfather...it was different.
I'm a huge LOTR and Narnia books fan. LOTR movies were awesome. 1st Narnia move was OK, the second was not nearly as good.
It is interesting to see the newer stuff that kids read now; Harry Potter, Twilight (I read all the Anne Rice Vamp books).
I wonder if they will make a series for the MYTH books or the Xanth books.

I love Terry Pratchett, and this wasn't Pratchett. It was like someone decided 'Hey, let's take something clever and funny and dumb it down, make it clumsy and embarrassing!' David Jason is a good actor, but he isn't Rincewind and he couldn't save this mess. Tim Curry is decent, though your typical cheesy bad guy. Sean Astin is just BAD. He ruins every scene he's in with his hammy overacting. Jeremy Irons is okay, though his voice doesn't do the Patrician justice. It's common knowledge you can't take two books and cram them together into one movie, but for some reason they did it anyway. I didn't really have high expectations and I didn't mind most of the cuts and the special effects weren't bad, but the directing, acting and adaptation were pretty awful. I loved Hogfather even though I wasn't crazy about the book, but this one really didn't work. I would like to see more Pratchett adaptations in the future, but I hope they do better, especially with the casting.

having read the book several times and getting excited about this i re read the book to familiarise myself with it i was very disappointed cast was all wrong Rincewind is meant to be stupid and cowardly so why cast David Jason here was Hrun etc why not just concentrate on the colour of magic instead of doing the light fantastic as well. i do like the fact that sky are backing these books but it would help to interest people in Terry Pratchett's work if these books were done with the same vigour as the Hogfather. maybe i'm just being to harsh i have to higher a regard for these book but i do suggest that people don't get their hopes up to much, lets hope that the next sky production of a Discworld novel which is rumoured to be Going Postal.

Most comments mention the disjointed themes and story lines but lets face it, they are condensing two road trip books into one movies an dyou cant have everything in there. These were the first discworld books and Pratchetts writing got better and better with one or two odd moments. If you like Hogfather (which as a book I didn't) an feel this isn't the same quality then don't despair. The production team have taken a difficult tale and made something - lets hope as with the books, they continue and get better and better.
On the associated webpage, Pratchett likes it a lot.
PS: Jeremy Irons (who isn't credited anywhere) as Patrician was very good and David Jason is only going to be alive for a limited amount of time - make the most of him. I'm sure I could of put that better but you know what I mean.

Worst adaptation i've ever seen. It was a pain to watch, knowing how amazing the books are. Tries to copy the books word by word but in the meantime it loses the atmosphere, under the bad acting that killed the jokes i laughed hard during reading. But of course it cant copy the book 100% because of the time limit, so it skips complete parts without adjusting the plot in the next scenes. Bad cutting, directing, cheap design.
