I only was interested in this film because I read Joseph Persico's "Nuremberg, Infamy on trial". The film was well made for a low budget film however the characters really suck you in, especially Brian Cox as Hermann Goering. Alec Baldwin is at his best as the lead prosecutor, SCOTUS Justice Robert Jackson.

I just watched this movie and for people that believe that the Nazis got what was comming to them is wrong. It was war. Soldiers did follow orders. I saw this sad tale of a trial, putting German Soldiers on trial for crimes against humanity but I was curious as why the Allied Powers were never brought to justice for the devestation of non militarily important cities in Germany. War crimes were committed on both sides. Germany wasnt the only power that had blood on her hands. The United States and Soviet Union were guilty of crimes as well and no one was even brought to justice. Otherwise, the film is excellent. I suggest you see it.

"Nuremberg" is a faithful dramatization of the Nuremberg war crimes trial of 1945-46. The cast is strong, although Alec Baldwin's portrayal of the chief prosecutor often lacks the passion that is needed. Brian Cox gives a superb performance in the role of Goering. In all, it is a solid history lesson that should be repeated often to future generations.

Absolute power does corrupt, but who would justify this? How can 20 men continue to support, defend, and be proud of their actions that brought death to millions of Jews? What took us so long to bring them to justice, regardless of the fact, the justification is war? And how in heaven's name do we recompense for the deeds already done? A power story that examines our psyche, our emotions, and our passions about human rights. A striking message of how power that is not balanced, develops strange evils. And it's our duty to fight for a republic that will not tolerate such hypocrisy.

I would have been interested in seeing the famous incident when Herman Goering outmanoeuvred the American prosecutor and the Brit lawyer, Sir David Maxwell-Fyffe, took over. His dogged and unrelenting cross examination of Goering is widely regarded as one of the most skilful ever seen in a court of law.... I don't recall this being depicted.

Having followed the Nuremberg trials day by day in the New York press, I am impressed by the accuracy of the events as depicted in the movie. The black and white newsreels of the death camps and slave camps (many taken by the Nazis themselves!) never cease to horrify us, no matter how many times they are shown. The acting and other production elements of this miniseries show that cable networks like TNT can come up with some first class movies. I believe this movie should be required viewing in all the secondary schools of the civilized world.

This gripping mini-series provides perhaps the best portrayal of the Nuremberg trials to date. Brian Cox playing the role of Hitler's second in command, Hermann Goring, gives an award winning performance. Actual footage of the horrific scenes found at the liberations of the concentration camps, serve to add the human touch that is all so chilling and moving.

This movie was very well done, the sets were amazingly reproduced, the actors did an excellent job, Brian Cox should win an award for his portrayal of Hermann Goering, Alec Baldwin was at his best in this movie, this is one I definitely want to add to my collection.
