How can a movie about sports have no pace at all? Just watch this one and you will know. Everything goes slooooooow. Dialogues, scenes, the whole thing is just a waste of time. A movie about tri-athletes and the challenges they have could have so much more than a cheesy story with some lousy acting.

Triathlon is a sport that lends itself to tales of heroism, personal endeavor and triumph over adversity. It's great source material and one day, someone will make a really great triathlon movie. But unfortunately, this is not it. As a triathlete myself, I really really wanted to like this film. But the corny story, the cheesy script and the obvious low budget undercut the good intentions of the producers. And it could have been so much better with little or no increase in budget. We all remember training for our first race particularly if (like myself and those in the film) you're starting off from the couch and there are so many great comedy moments that they missed (e.g. your first OWS is always, erm, "special"!) It would have been nice if the makers had taken inspiration from NBC's always excellent Kona coverage. And don't even get me started on the hackneyed ending. You don't get too many "Julie Moss moments" in olympic tris, let alone two in one race! Oh and PS - no one wears cycle gloves in an olympic! :-)

The acting is terrible and overly dramatic. Every scene the actors seem to be waiting for each other to say their lines to each other. Not much comes through as genuine in this movie. Even the organizer of the triathlon (Candace's) fight with cancer isn't heart felt or moving. She's got an amped up persona of a comedic tough chick that fails miserably. The movie comes off extremely scripted and I had a hard time being inspired or empathetic to any of the characters. Near the end there's a death, I won't say who for those that haven't seen it yet, but even those scenes lacked real emotion. The movie tries to use music to substitute for real emotion and that came across over done as well. I was honestly more inspired by watching old news clips of Julie moss as the main character was looking for inspiration. I'm not sure how this ended up with a 7.3

This is an absolutely must see for any triathlete or future triathlete. Finally there's a movie about our sport! But its just not a training film, the depth of the characters and the story line is top notch. It will leave you wanting to get outside and swim, bike or run! But it's more than about the sport it's about friendship, what we do for our loved ones and how each of us overcomes adversity. TRI - is a great movie that you will keep coming back to and enjoy over and over again on a rainy day! After a decade away from the sport Tri got me back on the bike and I finished a Half Ironman. If you find yourself glued to the Olympics every four years and care about the human drama of crossing a finish line, you will fall in love with this movie.

With little interest in Triathlons, I was pleasantly surprised how involving the storytelling of this Indie film. A bit slow and a little more like a stage production in its beginning, through TRI's writing and film craft, characters subtly grow in your heart. The movie takes you on an emotional journey of a group of individuals encouraging each to recommit to personal struggles and overcome the voices within that thwart us from our goals. TRI is much more than a training movie for Triathlons. Its a movie about how each of us have moments in our lives where we can have a positive impact and contribute in the lives of strangers and loved ones. In a day of polarization in America, this is a refreshing experience. This family friendly film leaves even the jaded with a sense of purpose in their own abilities.

Tri is an excellent movie right from the start and keeps you wanting more. It will make you cry and it will make you laugh. It is a serious movie on serious topics but is done in a way to make it entertaining and fun. The characters are easy to fall in love with and relate to. The story is inspiring and makes you want to go follow your dreams. A must see movie of the year. You will leave this movie wanting to watch the sequel. In short this movies leaves you wanting more, to continue to learn more about the characters' lives and story line. I for one is hoping for a sequel to this movie. I would love to follow the characters' lives and see them cope with other aspects of their lives. Again great characters, great story. Loved it. Go see this movie you will love it too. Sal

This little film packs a surprisingly big emotional punch, but it really succeeds because of the quiet scenes which are exceptionally well-written. The characters talk like real people and the challenges never explode up into lazily written melodramatic struggles between good and evil. Instead the characters deal with the things we all deal with, and that's what lends the writing its power. New writer/director Jai Jamison shows immense natural talent as both a director and a writer and I certainly expect and hope to see more films from this young and promising artist. His work captures all the beauty of a good documentary and mixes it with all the power of fiction to create a movie that I'd never thought that I would have loved... but I did.
