I can honestly say that this movie is one that will stay with you for a long time. It's like a dream which evolves into a nightmare. With this being said, The Hospital leaves its mark on you, with its sex, horror, gore and even comedy. I remember my first thought after watching The Hospital was "Oh my god, that was disturbing". Which was my same reaction I had from watching the Saw movies. Yes, I watched The Hospital again. I have even used quotes and screen references from the movie. I came to enjoy the characters in this movie. Jason Crowe portrayal of Jack was really good, I honestly enjoyed his character. I liked Skye's character and her realism and strength throughout the movie. There are others that made this film a success, John Dugan, Daniel Emery Taylor, Christina Schimmel and Jim O'Rear among others. Is this movie the greatest movie of all time, no, by a long shot, but this movie tells a story and has character, which makes you overlook the flaws of poor lighting and CGI, it's simply more than that. I actually want to see more, like a Webisode or prequel - I want to know more about these people and how they got there. My last comment is this, my favorite seen was the one with Roni Jonah. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then watch the movie.

Old St. Leopold's Hospital has many urban legends surrounding it, but the residents of Bridgeport all agree on one thing: tortured souls roam its abandoned halls. The mystery proves too much for a pretty young student who decides to investigate for her senior class project. Unfortunately, she does not find ghosts. She, instead, finds Stanley... serial rapist, murderer, and psychopath. As the young girl becomes Stanley's new pet, a team of young investigators descend on the hospital to "hunt some ghosts." Stanley sees nothing but fun and games in his future. But, what Stanley does not know is that the hospital truly is haunted and the restless spirits there are not happy with what he has been doing. On the surface, it appears as if the gang at Deviant Pictures has created an homage to the horror films of the 1980s... it's obvious these movies were their inspiration... but this film actually delves much deeper than that. The Hospital has a great story that keeps you engaged and actually contains two major twists that you'll never see coming! It also contains some of the grittiest scenes of torture ever to be committed to film. What makes these scenes of torture even more disturbing is the dark humor that runs beneath them. The writers, Jim O'Rear and Daniel Emery Taylor, are obviously toying with the audience... and it's very effective. Some of the visual effects by Tommy Golden are sub-par and cheesy, but this just adds to the campy, dark humor that's already built into the film and provides moments of guilty giggles. For an indie film, the performances from all of the actors are extremely solid. Many Hollywood actors could learn a lesson from watching some of these people go through their paces... especially Jim O'Rear, Daniel Emery Taylor, Jason Crowe, Alicia Clark, and Robyn Shute. Throw in a few great cameos from horror staples such as John Dugan, April Burill, and Scott Tepperman and you've got yourself one heck of a ride! Highly Recommended!!

I picked this up at a horror convention last month and just now sat down to watch it. I don't really think much of indie horror films. I appreciate what they're trying to do but the acting is usually bad and the effects are bad and the stories are cheesy. This one had an interesting synopsis so I took a chance on it. Wow ... just wow ... I don't want to give anything away because that's part of the shock. It starts off like a bad 80's movie but you think it's going to be fun and cheesy and you keep watching. Then BAM! It goes insane. Rape, torture, necrophilia, man rape, and some of the sickest stuff I've ever seen in my entire life. Rape kind of makes me uncomfortable anyway and the rape scenes are so realistic and savage it makes my skin crawl. But I loved it. That's messed up. It goes from cheesy to horrific back to cheesy to even more horrific. I think the filmers were just doing that on purpose to mess with us. You think things are going to be lightened up and the bad stuff is over and then it only gets worse. I'm like obsessed with this movie now. I see Stanley when I close my eyes to go to sleep ... and I kinda like that. There are some really bad computer effects in the movie but aside from that the practical stuff is awesome and the whole hospital itself is insanely scary looking. And Stanley's heavy breathing ... ugggggh ... YOU MUST SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!

To the reviewer Myra Tripp (lyinguncleanspirit@gmail.com) you must know someone in this movie or are in the movie yourself. This is one awful horror movie; I would not even be able to class it as a B-show. It appears the actors, using the word actor is an improvement in this case, the actors seem to be reading off of q-cards. The acting seems so fake. I have not jumped one time as you claim with suspense or horror. I did almost cry when I saw the budget of $100k, someone should have used that money for acting classes. Horror fans, run far away from this movie. The nudity will be the only thing that draws people into even watching this movie. Don't waste your time on The Hospital 2013.

Lighting = awful, camera work=awful, sound=awful, editing = awful, sfx = awful, acting = awful, direction = obviously awful, and production = must have a mental health issue to finance this. According to IMDb the estimated budget was $100,000 – NO WAY. At most a few hundred bucks for fake blood and a few props – unless members of the cast were paid – which seems highly unlikely. From the opening title which is so badly produced, edited and encoded that it jerks and jumps its way overlaid on top of equally poor quality video, to (what one presumes and hopes is) the end, it lumbers along, struggling to find any continuity whatsoever. Totally random shots and people appear with no link to the previous scene and… well, it's just awful from start to finish. Goodness know what 'equipment' they used, but the image is of such a poor quality that it could have been shot on an old smartphone. Either that, or whoever was the camera operator didn't have a clue what they were doing. The lighting was direct and harsh, and it seemed as though there was only one light used, although the colour temperature of the light ranged from orange to blue – with no discernible reason for the change. The sound sounds as though it was recorded on a Dictaphone placed 'somewhere' in the room, with much of the overacted dialogue remaining unheard because of the sonic ambiance of the room. Echo-a-mundo! The few post-production 'effects' were so bad it was as though a five year-old had been employed to do them. Really – what were they thinking!! Absolutely everything is awful with this film. I have seen a thousand times better amateur holiday videos than this trash. Looking for something positive to say about this film is a struggle – and that's being generous. Perhaps the only thing was that there were some very nice naked breasts – apart form that, nothing at all.

If I could give a review lower than 1-Star, I would. I don't even know where to begin. At first, I was really looking forward to this movie. I had read some reviews, but none really gave the concept of the film. When I first heard about it, I was under the impression this was a "haunted hospital" film. Wrong. This film does nothing but glorify and condone rape. There is no real justification for the actions in this film and, having watched it, feel as if part of my soul and humanity was raped in the process. It's sickening. I can take horror films, even ones that center on rape. However, there is always a justification or redemption that leaves you able to deal with the horrific themes and elements presented. The Hospital doesn't do that. There is no redemption for this film. Trust me, I waited for it. It never came. The Hospital was written and produced by depraved individuals, desperately seeking to live out some rape fantasy\* and got funds to make a movie so it could be presented as "art" and be legal. That's basically what this is. It's a rape\* film, full of sex, nudity, and horribly satirical themes. The rape is too much and only satisfying for the people who made this train-wreck and waste of budget. When it boils down to it, I watched this movie and was disgusted more than I have ever been in my life. If that's what the filmmakers wanted, they got it. However, I'm sure they find it funny people were as appalled as I was. It takes a sick mind to want to make a 90 minute film about rape, glorifying it more than a sexual deviant would in their own mind. The budget: clearly wasted. The script, acting, production values, special fx, and everything else was absolutely terrible. I've seen better from backyard movies made by twelve-year-old kids on YouTube. All in all, this film was a waste. It was a waste of money, time, and effort. The filmmakers should not be posting "fake" reviews on any site trying to boost popularity. They should be evaluating their skills and abilities and maybe thinking of another career choice.

Let's start with a word of warning -- or encouragement, depending on your tastes. "The Hospital" is a sick little puppy of a movie. The plot is deceptively familiar -- a student reporter goes to a small town to research a "haunted hospital." The locals warn her to stay away, but she ignores their warnings and goes the the hospital where she is promptly captured by the caretaker, a grotesquely fat creep named Stanley. Meanwhile, a group of twenty-somethings get together to investigate the hospital for one of those "Ghost Investigation" television shows. Once they get to the hospital, they run into Stanley and, of course, end up getting more than they bargained for. But the film lulls you into a false sense of security, because when the crap starts to hit the fan (and hit it, it most certainly does), it does so in a way that is unexpected and jolting. "The Hospital" doesn't scrimp on nudity, violence, and overall sickness and that is a point in its favor. The acting is, as is typical for a low-budget indie, of varying quality but in general it's pretty good -- the victims, in particular, give very brave and believable performances that give the film some real power. Most of the actresses (with one exception) are attractive and the actors don't look like just they were just a group of the director's friends. There are certainly flaws -- the film meanders at times, there are some attempts at comedy that fall flat, and the filmmakers seriously overreach for some special effects (especially in the climax) that just don't cut it and, to be honest, look a little silly. One specific warning is that in addition to the violence the film has some pretty strong rape sequences. But in a way that actually adds to the realism of the film since that's what you'd expect a real sicko to do. Adding to the realism is that the original student reporter is a very heavy woman -- almost as heavy as Stanley the caretaker -- and in real life these type of women get captured as well as slender and fit gals. (As an aside, they probably should have rewritten some of script once this actress was cast, since the characters continually refer to her as "She's so pretty!" and "She was the prom queen!" which, despite the brave performance of the actress, is not how anybody would describe her.) "The Hospital" is not for everyone, obviously, but if you are a fan of sick indie horror and want to spend some time with your mouth agape stunned at what you're seeing unfold on the screen before you, then "The Hospital" is definitely worth checking out.

Never have I seen such an obvious list of "reviewers" (ie actors, friends of the director, etc) giving such an awful pile of utter garbage so much undeserved praise. Do not believe the 10 star reviews, people, this film has nothing going in its favour - cheap and shoddy "actors" and sets, horrific dialogue, amateur film-making...at it's absolute worst! Those of you with a masochistic/misogynistic streak in you may get off watching an endless stream of women getting tortured, knifed, raped and killed, but as a horror movie fan, I am ashamed of movies like this - there's no wit, context, explanation, just women (and women only) being horrifically murdered. Don't support this kind of film-making, please, as it gives the horror genre a terrible name.I didn't manage to sit through this pile of garbage to the end as I already felt as if my eyes were being punished - it's NOT hostel, not by a million miles. It's just cheap, nasty and cruel.
