This movie is really INTENSE! Bailee Madison is AMAZING in this, for those who said otherwise I am surprised! I was impressed by her ability to make this SO believable that I felt her fear, my heart was racing and it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. From the moment I saw the creepy coroner, I knew something was wrong and he is a great villain-very believable. Had I been in Chloe's shoes, I would've died! Definitely a good thriller, parts had me gasping and giving me anxiety lol
I didn't like the gorey scenes, very disturbing subject matter, but very good thriller! I recommend if you mind the gore and I'll probably have PTSD over these scenes lol.

I really loved this movie. I think Bailee Madison does an awesome job in these horror movies, turning in an even more kick-ass performance that she did in "Strangers: Prey At Night." She also makes an awesome final girl! Jerry O'Connell makes a great bad guy here. There were a few surprises along the way. Nothing happened though for me to complain about. When I first saw how long the movie would be, I worried that it might drag, but it actually did not. I thought the story played out well and had a great ending. It does definitely keep your attention making you wonder what is going to happen next. Exciting chases! I'd watch it again most definitely!

But sorry to say, it has come far too late in this era of over-saturated Hollywood horror movies.
I've been a long admirer of Patrick Lussier. Not as a director, but as a special-effects man and visionary. His Dracula 2000 was among the best modern vampire movies I've ever seen and it has a direct sequel: Dracula II: Ascension starring my favorite actor Jason Scott Lee.
But that's enough about those movies. Play Dead is about a young woman who takes a drug that renders her almost dead in every sense of the word. Like a hibernating animal, she revives again when the drug wears off. The mortuary she wakes up in has a terrible and dark history of goings on that she'll soon find out...
For me it's all about the cast. A mediocre cast, and I'm put-off easily. Those luckily it is a treat for us to watch anything directed by Patrick Lussier. The movie is not boring. There's nothing new in it. It is your typical run-of-the-mill dark thriller. The Autopsy Of Jane Doe was for me a far more unique movie than this one. The first two Jeepers Creepers films too.
There have been too many movies about organ traffickers: Coma 1978(masterpiece based on Robin Cook's book and directed by Michael Crichton. Well ahead of its time and shows even in those days this heinous crime was ever-present) Body Parts 1991, The Harvest 1993, Turistas 2006, Tell-Tale 2009.
Verdict: definitely worth a one-time viewing. But be warning the subject matter is very disturbing.

It started out quite well, but then quickly turned into a cliche. There's absolutely nothing surprising or noteworthy, you can pretty much figure out the whole plot and even the twists within the first few minutes of the film.
Suspensewise, it was also quite predictable so honestly my heart rate never increased. I mean, compare to suspense from A Quiet Place or Don't Breathe, this film hardly creates a jitter. It is more of a gross type of film where you see a lot of blood, the cutting up of bodies, than it is about actual psychological thriller and even jump scare.
The only point that is noteworthy is the great performance by Jerry O'connell. The moment he came on the screen, you can feel his command of the movie. However, the most impressive of his performance was when he spoke; strong, articulate, and cerebral.
Overall a bore of a movie that you might share with some friends while eating pizza and stuff.
