Like what even was the story line of this movie? The entire time I was very confused for so many reasons. 1- the age difference between the girl and Russell. 2- why did she stop seeing her mother? 3- how did the entire front panel of that building fall down? 4- the scene where her mom is straight naked and you see her bits. And 5- my biggest concern was WHY THE HECK ISNT SHE ACCEPTING A PRIVATE PRACTICE THAT IS LITERALLY BEING HANDED TO HER? Not to mention the fact that her boss is paying for her to go to school? This girl is so stupid and clearly isn't seeing a good therapist if she isn't making any progress in the four years she's been meeting w/ him. HUGE THUMBS DOWN.

This romantic comedy is quite different from the rest, so I have to give it credit. However, the plot is scientifically implausible, so the scientist part of me couldn't enjoy the film as much as I would have liked.

Why do they bother to make a movie like this with good actors and nicely filmed? Nonsensical story about a girl who can't see certain people. Defies logic. There was no redeeming feature.

A truly beautiful & thought provoking film. In spite of the title this is not merely a simple love story. It is delightfully quirky but, just as importantly, it has a wealth of emotional depth & really gets you thinking & questioning your own vision of life. The cinematography & music is beautiful & the acting is superb throughout, especially from the two leads - Aidan Turner & Shannon Tarbet. The characters come alive & you find yourself totally invested in what happens to them. Highly recommended.

A woman was born with out the ability to deal with emotional stress. And then she got that surgery! Mystery: why do people have to undergo stuff when they don't prefer it? We're not told that. Films message: make sure to do whatever you do in life with passion or you'll be put through some stuff by forces we technically no nothing about.

In short, this is a film that begins to make sense for around 3 seconds, giving you a strong glimmer of hope, which then is retracted rather quickly by a random event that does not make sense, nor correlate, to anything directly relevant to the film. The movie had the recipe for something great, which is a real shame. The acting was average, highly ruined by the awkward way in which this movie was written. Myself and my mother sat through the movie gaining elevens between our eyebrows and laughing in despair which was, in fact, the most entertaining part of the entire film. If you are after a movie that is written well, makes sense and will not leave you scratching your head in anger, this is not for you. Whatever this film was trying to achieve, it has failed miserably. Bare in mind, it will take 45 minutes for you to understand Bes is the one who cannot see, or can she see? WHO. KNOWS. Never again.

I thought i would see something like Amelie when it started. But this was not at all anything like that. The characters were so fake. No one was real feeling to them except maybe the doctor. Yes, you would argue that this was done deliberately to make the movie magical. But no it didn't do it for me. There are many ways making the movie magical without making the characters weirdos... again Amelie is such a good example of it... anyways, judge it for yourselves..

Having waited a long time for this film to finally see the light of day I am pleased to say it is an intriguing and thoughtful piece. The story is different and the performances are all spot on - it is sad, tender, moving and thought-provoking. All the actors are on point but stand-outs are Shannon Tarbet as Bess who can't see her mother and Aidan Turner as the misunderstood and lonely Russell. Both give convincing and charismatic performances. We are lucky in the UK to be able to stream and download this film via Amazon Prime and ITunes. I hope this is brought out on DVD and seen worldwide as many people would enjoy this film.
