Fantastic movie. They really did a great job setting up the theme and the ending, i actually shed a tear. Humans are capable of such good, such evil, and such ignorance.

Bored, and seeing though the agenda, I turned it off, halfway through

This is a well made movie with very good acting and a story that is a bit hard to swallow. Of course it HAD to be a "Snow White returns to the Middle East" kind of story or it wouldn't have been as interesting. I kept waiting for the big 'reveal' of the terrorist king pin who was deceiving everyone with niceties... But it never came so I was pleasantly surprised. I'm watching for the sequel now called "The Hell's Angel's Day Care Center" starring: Bob Newhart. Even still, it was an interesting film and I'm also sure there are many big mean Harley dude's who would like to be seen in the same kind way. But I don't think we're in Kansas anymore at this point Toto.

I am at awe to see couple of bad reviews on here. The only thing I can think of it is that the bad reviews come from the followers of the biggest cancer in Turkey who is Fettullah or maybe some other ethnic rebellious thinkers. Bottom line is that this movie gives a great depiction of everything. The power of using Islam for good, and that people in the end are victims of being uneducated. Movie was fantastic in every way. The actors, the filming - everything. It is a must see. Haluk Bilginer gave an amazing performance. Mahsun Kirmizigul despite me having previous negative thoughts against him and quite frankly not thinking too highly of him was a pleasant surprise. Mustafa Sandal despite being a terrible singer turned out to be a decent actor. Danny Glover and Gina of course were at 5 star performances again.

This movie is one of the best Turkish movie I have ever seen! Pure reality,great story! People shouldn't expect an action movie because of just a few scenes,this one is a story of a drama. I respect Haluk Bilginer's outstanding acting also I must mention the great directorship talent of Mahsun Kirmizigul.He succeeded to show the both sides of the coin , from victim's and guilty's point of view. Truth can be different than it seems. Unfortunately, our country's story consists many people like Haci in the movie, lots of people forced to leave the country because of the allegations they faced , although they were innocent, they expected to see their hometown for the last time before they die.Haci was lucky but hundreds of people weren't. Real tragedy.

"Five Minarets in New York" tells the story of a respected elderly muslim who is arrested under charges of terrorism. But the reality isn't that simple. In my eyes this movie is underrated. Of course films centering around extremism are always inaccurate and there are surely aspects that you can rightfully criticize about this one. But it is a rare example of a movie that takes its plot serious enough to spend time developing it and giving it clever turns. Not all of these turns are realistic and at times this can be disturbing but all in all this is something I highly respect. All in all this is a thriller above the average. In my eyes a bit more darkness and less action would have made even more of a difference but it already is a very respectable piece of work.

We get it, we're not at war with all of Islam. But the acting in this movie is melodrama and fits about as well into the culture and scenes as Danny Glover fits in this film....which is basically not at all.

The point of this movie is to illustrate that Islam is good & peaceful. Islam-based terrorism is an abberation. OK, got it. Grudges last a long time in Turkish villages, but minds can be changed. Check. And the FBI is run by a bunch of insenstive jerks. OK, got it. Story? We don't need no stinkin story, or at least one that makes sense. Two Turkish cops roaming NYC on their own, with weapons? Sure. Rooftop escape? Right. Oh, and by the way, the pious Danny Glover makes every scene he is in stink. I wanted to watch a(nother) Turkish movie. This was a bad choice.

I liked the movie very much. It deals with a very significant issue: tolerance. Interreligious dialog is must and the movie reflects it nicely. I believe that true Christians and Muslims need to understand and respect each other to overcome hatred and prejudices in the world. In the movie, the relationship between Haci Gumus and his Christian wife, I think, could be viewed as a metaphor for interfaith dialoge between Christianity and Islam. Love is also a center theme for this movie. Good movie.. Congratulations!!
