The movie directly shows the Turkish culture. I mean the relative culture in Turkey. Your relative can be very bad person or you don't even like him/her but you still feel a connection and the need to help him/her.

The most beautiful movie of Cem Yilmaz. I have called the number given in the movie :) 'I don't know Altan' and at least we are alive, which is one of the most well known lines.

This is probably one of the greatest movies in the pages of Turkish cinema history. Performances, photography, script and locations couldn't be combined better. Nothing looks artificial or theatrical, a must to call a movie "good". Everyday characters living among us in a series of so true adventures. Highlihts of the soundtrack were also written by Mazhar Alanson, one of the two leading actors, who is also the leading vocal of the greatest Turkish band so far, MFO (Mazhar, Fuat, Ozkan)and fit into the mood of the movie perfectly, literally tailor-made.
I've liked this movie while i was just 14 and not able to understand what it really tried to tell. Maybe watched it at least 20 times during the last 16 years, and it's still getting more precious for me every time i watch it.
Overall, in this age that everything's consumed at light speed and getting artificial day by day, this is a wonderful road movie to take you out of this world for about two hours, although it's not a colorful fantasy or a visual effects-ramped sci-fi, but a modest and natural story.

this movie especially among the youth have become something of the rule that should be watched over and over.. although i've done it only once i can understand the great desire for it till the young guy called Altan is a very popular comedian.. but, i must say that the other one is a well-known performer in turkey, and performed very well in the movie too.. if you want to see something about turkey rather than any political aspect or any middle-east smelling one, you should take a look at this comedy passing through urban life, sure this life has many "faults" , but if not, how could it be a real comedy?

It's definitely the best Turkish comedy made ever. As there are lots of drama's made in Turkey, it is so nice to see comedy that makes everyone laugh till tears come from eyes. The problem about the movie, is not everyone would be able to understand all jokes. If you are a not a Turk and especially do not know anything about Cem Yilmaz (the actor), then it would even seem silly to you. The Turkey's best comedian ever Cem Yilmaz's one man show. He is just awesome that it is so surprising that Mazhar Alanson has been able to adopt him , and not pressed under the Yilmaz's wonderful performance. Alanson, who is a singer, is also starred in some other films, which were disappointments, performed well enough to made the film best Turkish comedy made ever. Thanks to both actors for shooting such a nice movie. If you wonder about Turkey and see how the middle-class life in Turkey in a funny way you should watch this film. I don't know, if some of the jokes would loose their meanings in English or some other language but I'm sure it would make you laugh even only with Cem Yilmaz's own acting.

Hersey Cok Guzel Olacak is one of the best products contemporary Turkish cinema can offer, with its modest but solid direction, clever script, and outstanding acting. It is the story of two brothers living in Istanbul, with very different characters, world views, and ambitions. Their differences prove effective as the generator of the comedic effect, although -in my opinion- this movie is also a solid drama rather than a simple comedy.
Altan, played by the ever-popular stand-up comedian Cem Yilmaz, is a penniless dreamer, who has plans to open his own pub. He decides to steal some prescription drugs from his brother's pharmacy, and sell them to the mafia in order to get the capital necessary quickly. Long story short, the two brothers find themselves on a dangerous road trip to the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, and adventure unfolds.
In his first serious on-screen job, Cem Yilmaz seems surprisingly able in his portrayal of Altan, and demonstrates that he can really act. Mazhar Alanson, who is the lead singer of arguably the best pop music group in Turkey, is also worthy of praise as the older brother. Not many know that he was actually trained as a thespian, and he reminds the audience of this fact with his commanding presence in the film. The late master Selim Nasit also gives his last performance as their father.
The movie is exceptionally good, clever, consistently fascinating, warm and funny. Labelling it one of the best of Turkish cinema will not be an exaggeration.

I didnt laugh at all. there are some funny scenes, but they already put those scenes into trailer. if you saw the trailer, you can assume that you saw the film. absolutely pointless... not even funny. same jokes over and over again.. mazhar alanson has an awful performance which ruins the film most. cem yilmaz only plays his real character, he didn't act actually. only person who deserves respect in this film is Selim Nasit Ozcan.

I have started watching Turkish movies just recently. I have watched "Babam Ve Oglum" and Mutluluk and both were amazing. So, I decided to watch more Turkish movies. But frankly this was a huge disappointment. This movie has a very high rating and I just can't understand why. I never laughed once. There are some comedy movies which I don't like but at least you can guess why others might have liked it. Maybe it is black comedy or it is too slapstick for my taste or something like that. Here I couldn't get anything.
I thought that I was the only one who disliked it, but I saw the top 1000 voters and they have given it an average rating of 5.2. Maybe Turkish humor is too quaint for outsiders. or Maybe it is just lost in translation, I don't know.

I think the main theme of the movie is to spend a lifetime saying that everything will be very good for the end, and then the end of our movie in an instant as in this movie.

This movie is my best Turkish movie (I'm Turk). Do not expect a very funny movie, but expect a story that reflects reality. Good acting and filming.
