تدور أحداث الفلم في إطار أفلام الخيال العلمي ، حول عاصفة رعدية تضرب العالم ، تهدد الجنس البشري وبقاءه على سطح الأرض ، وسط الفوضى العارمة التي تخلفها كائنات غريبة بعد هجومها على الأرض ، يقرر راي فيرير (توم كروز) المطلق الذي يقضي عنده أبناؤه عطلة نهاية الأسبوع أن يحميهم مهما كانت النتيجة ، يقرر أن يقاتل للنهاية .

I liked the beginning and the set up of the movie, however from the middle to the end stuff felt unnecessary, tacked on, and non-sensical. It ends very abruptly and out of the blue as well and it doesn't feel like a Steven Spielberg production. More like Michael Bay. I wish it was written better and included more heart.
