Pretty much nothing else happens, what a waste. And how confusing that the adult Celeste had a stronger accent / affectation than teenage Celeste? Felt like all actors did as well as they could with this, except Natalie Portman's performance really verged on pantomime at times. But it was really unclear what this film was trying to say, and by the time we got to the pop bit, Portman was downright unconvincing. Which is surprising for an actor that trained so hard / convincingly for Black Swan.

What the heck? Some boring scenes (a crowd walking down the street, cars passing on the road, etc) went on far too long, so I fast-forwarded. The young Celeste singing, and the songs, were horrible. How the world could that have created a star? I wouldn't have paid a nickel for any of that "singing ". I had to fast-forward all that, too. Flat, cardboard character in the young Celeste. By the time Natalie Portman came on screen, I was so bored and irritated I didn't really care about the character. And it didn't get a lot better. I began this movie because I truly like Portman and Jude Law. I thought with both of them in it, the movie should at the very least be interesting. Wrong. Not sure how both usually good actors got entwined in this mess but it proved to me that just because good actors are in it doesn't mean it's going to be a good movie. A waste of time.

It's like watching two parts of a incomplete movie. you wait till the last part to see nat, Singing sucks. It could have been better. I should have been drinking while watching this so I wouln'd think about it.

This movie is terrible from all aspects. Directing, editing, writing, production design, acting, etc. Raffey Cassidy is awful. The directing is weird, the editing is slow, the writing is directionless, and the movie managed to make Jude Law a bad actor. A complete waste of 2 hours. Nothing happened. Basically this movie is Black Swan but if that movie was bad. Natalie Portman is just not believable as a world famous pop star. This movie could have been good, but it would need a major overhaul of the whole creative team behind this.

This movie was straight hot garbage... Beginning, and part of the middle of the movie was ok, but then it took a very bad turn----Any other direction would have been better than the one it took. Can't unsee, but hope to forget.

Multiple set-ups, no payoff. Dreadful. And what the what was up with Natalie Portman's accent? The only way she could play "tough" was to sound like a reject from the Sopranos? The positive reviews are just rationalizations to come to terms with why viewers wasted 2 hours on this.

Brady is a handsome fellow, he is no sort of director, and this movie proves it, how he got any of these actors involved with such drivel is beyond me, not everything that glitters is gold, and here all you get is fools gold, sloppy, irregular and not an enjoyable film, not because of the subject matter but the film itself, one gigantic mess. wait to rent it if you must pay to see it, otherwise do yourself a favor and skip this one, you're not missing out.

Vox Lux has a daring + clear vision by Brady Corbet, it doesn't sugar coat real tragedies that effect our society. and with Natalie Portman's performance you feel the weight of the choices and circumstances of where a person can end up. It's has pretty dark moments, that if you pay attention to Brady's vision, it should create a bigger discussion. Raffey Cassidy stands out giving an even more memorable performance than in The Killing of a Sacred Deer, you feel for her as a young Celeste, trying to figure out her next journey in life with very little guidance. A woman's journey through tragedy told in a stylistic dark approach. Vox Lux has become one of my favorites of the year.
