The Kid

I thought this movie was great! Bruce Willis was great as the sarcastic image consultant-turned-sensitive when he meets up with his 8-year-old self. It really makes you think. I just saw this movie with a large group of women aged 30 and under, and we all absolutely loved it. The message certainly was not missed!

what was Bruce Willis thinking when he signed on for this one?? this one made no sense to me.. i was so confused by it, it wasnt funny at all.. I dont even know why Disney made this one.. Bruce is a Great actor whom ive liked for a Long time .. and this disappointed me a lot.. Pass this one by on the video shelf....

I wanted to contact the director, Mr. Turtletaub, et. AL, to mention that I loved the movie; just found it (DVD) at the local Bloackbuster (a lonely brick and mortar close by luckily for me). Loved the 'commentary' with a then much younger Spencer Breslin... just the art of conversation on both parts... classic. thanks (another Bruce Willis picture, not to mention Lily Tomlin, Jean Smart).... I'm such a DVD fan( but also still go to 'big screen'!)- And just coincidental that I just got a 'Nutribullet' which was featured early in the movie where 40yr old Rusty is making his 'Nutriblast' shake! (they're updated the model since I guess). thank you Disney and Mr. T.; I'm going back to find Phenomena, now!

We meet Bruce Willis, obnoxious 40-something who thinks everyone else in the world is stupid. Somehow, nobody in the first 30 minutes slaps him, quits on him or poisons him. That surprised me. Then along comes some fat kid. Who turns out to be, um, Bruce Willis as an 8 year old. As unlikeable as adult Bruce Willis, the kid version wouldn't exactly have charmed Cybill Shepherd either. He shouts, he cries, he annoys the living shyt out of viewers. Kid just oozes spoiled Upper East Side, and I don't mean that as a compliment. Special shout-out to whoever penned the soundtrack music. Some of the most obvious, cliche-filled musical drivel i have ever heard. This movie is so unfunny even Lily Tomlin couldn't save it. Anyone who made the mistake of forcing their brats to watch this movie better be prepared for some Mommie Dearest revelations later in life. I don't see how any adults could enjoy it either. More likely they will come away wondering why they buy tickets to Bruce Willis movies.

Willis once again makes a star performance of a man in crisis, something he seems to do very well, at least if box office sales are an indicator! Willis relates well to the young Breslin, making me wonder just how much of a "kid" Willis really is, considering his more dramatic/action roles like "Die Hard" and "The Last Boy Scout". I'd have to agree that this movie is definitely geared toward the adult crowds, although kids may have fun with it as well. Without a doubt, if you've reached a certain level of success in your life, or just plain 'ol middle-aged like most of us, you should go see this movie. You'll realize the old adage that "It ain't over 'til it's over" ISN'T just a cliche.

I couldnt believe how well this kid did on screen, you will completely forget that they are actors and loose yourself in the movie. It is like watching home movies with a twist. I recomend this to everyone. Highly.

Admittedly, Spenser Breslin as the Kid in this movie is flat-out hilarious. However, what could have gotten annoying after about 20 minutes was not so, largely in part to Bruce Willis' smirking adult version of the Kid. Even this heartless Personal Image Consultant character Willis portrays can't keep his guard up around Breslin. I wouldn't be surprised if they asked Bruce to stay serious as long as possible before he couldn't help it and cracked at smile at what the Kid says. These two complement each other like none other. Willis' work with younger actors in The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable was excellent, but that was drama. This, let me tell you, is comedic gold. The Kid runs around Willis' home calling out the name of dog he assumes the older version of himself has. When he finds out he doesn't have a dog, he calls 'himself' a loser. Not only that, he screams it in his face, in one of the most drop-dead funny lines I've ever heard delivered, whether the actor be young or old.

First of all, I wasn't sure who this film was aimed at - it seemed like a story for kids but had stuff in it kids wouldn't understand and find boring. There wasn't really much to it, Bruce Willis wasn't stretched as an actor at all. He did a lot of glancing to the side with that half smile of his - unless you are a big fan of his I wouldn't bother. And if it's the story you're interested in (guy who seems to have it all but is lacking emotionally is taught lessons from a child), I would go to see About A Boy. It has everything this film lacked, humor, sadness and reality.

I have seen "The Kid" about 5 times now and every time I've seen it, it only gets more hilarious. Spencer Breslin is so adorable and funny as Rusty. This movie is for families of all ages! No one could have played Russell/Rusty better than Bruce Willis and Spencer Breslin. This movie will always be one of my favorites! If you want to watch a movie that's funny, entertaining, and just plain great, I recommend you rent or buy "The Kid"!
