Essentially a mystery in space with political overtones. The kind of film that proves that a small story can be much more meaningful than a larger one. It's fun watching Spock and Valeris unravel the mystery piece by piece. A great score and tight editing help. The cinematography is stark and bare, with only the soundtrack adding some effect. From an artistic standpoint, there were some plot elements and character developments I didn't think were totally needed. They do however drive the story, which seemed to be their purpose, so I can accept them. This is probably the worst of the sequels, with nothing to laugh at. Heartfelt and riveting from the first frame to the last, unlike Saavik, the Marcuses, et al.

The film is good. I really loved the story and it has a great ending for Kirk and crew. BUT the one thing I did not like in this film was Kim Cattrall's portrayal of Lt. Valeris -- she smirked and grinned too much to be a Vulcan for my taste, I did like her a lot as Lassie in Porky's just not as a Vulcan.
The Klingon High Chancellor Gorkon wants to talk a peace treaty with the Federation of Planets and Kirk along with his crew are sent out to escort the Klingon ship to the meeting. Things go wrong when the Klingon ship is attacked and the Chancellor is murdered with some of his crew. Kirk and Dr. McCoy go aboard the Klingon ship to help them but is blamed for the murders. Now Mr. Spock and the rest of the crew must find what really happened and whodunit.
I would have easily rated the film a perfect 10 but I was annoyed at Cattrall's portrayal of the Vulcan Valeris. She just smirked and grinned too much for me.

This movie is very militalistic, and is basically about a prelude to war between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets. While some of Starfleet's rules were bent and broken in this movie, it was all for the greater good of the union. While some people may think it is too violent of a movie, I think it is very realistic about what people are willing to do -- both in order to gain power, and in order to prevent a wrong. Kirk finally faces some of those inner demons that he avoided in ST5, and becomes a better man for it. The rest of the cast was wonderful, and never missed a beat. The emotions in this film are among the best out of all the Star Trek films. My third favorite Trek flick, after 1 and 5.

I have all ten Star Trek movies and Star Trek 6 and Insurrection are amongst my favourites of all ten films closely followed by Star Trek First Contact.
This entry didn't feel like an extended TV episode but did in fact feel like a movie. It had a good story, reasonably solid performances by all the leads, and was quite serious with a good balance of humourous moments and serious ones.
I'm quite comfortable to give it a 8/10

I'd guess on a scale of 1-10 I'm about a 5 as far as being a Trekkie fan. During the Covid slowdown got back into watching the reruns of the TV series and started watching the original cast movies, having only seen the the first two and caught parts of films 3-6 at various times on cable. STVI is a solid movie, entertaining and fun, borrowing a few bits from the TV show, some good lines-like when Kirk starts making out with another hot outer space vixen and Dr. McCoy shakes his head and mutters-"again?" Very reminiscent of the TV show, which will live forever in re-runs or streaming.

This is a nearly flawless finish for the original "Star Trek" crew. This movie has everything that came to be identified with "Star Trek;" a clever, intriguing story and fine performances. The writers wisely gave each one of the original crew members more than enough opportunities to do what they did best: interact wonderfully with each other. The klingons are the best ones ever to appear in the movies, and the dining scene with them and the Enterprise crew is a classic. A must-see for "Star Trek" fans.

Star Trek 6: The Undiscoverd Country is a great movie and a very pleasing finale for the original Star Trek crew. It's not better than Wrath Of Khan or the Voyage Home in my opinion but it's still a very good farewell to Kirk,Spock and the rest of the crew.It is certainly a huge improvement from the previous movie, the Final Frontier,I went into this movie with a negative attitude after watching that one,but I was very pleased,it had a great storyline that was developed very well and the always great cast are as good as ever in this adventure, and I got a bit upset during the final scene,it was a brilliant farewell.Fans of Star Trek will be very pleased with this final farewell to the original Star Trek crew.
The Klingon Empire sue for peace, but the Enterprise is accused of an act of war against them,it's up to Spock to prove Kirk's innocence.

Ever watched a movie where you figured out the ending at the beginning? This film is it. Everyone knows the Clingons were the Soviets, and the Federation was the Americans. With the end of the Cold War they decided to end the Trek War, where the walls came tumbling down. The big surprise twist at the end has no shock value at all! What saves the film is Shatner's fight at the Cligons prison. In the end, worth watching, but more of the same. 6/10 Will Star Trek ever die like other shows they keep remaking the same idea with new series, and films.
