I don't know how its been given a Horror and a Comedy status. It's dark, sad, and not in the least funny or scary. Don't watch on Christmas day as it may upset you.

Actually not bad! I guess another victim of bad marketing because I think people went to see it with the absolutely wrong expectations. Its not your typical Christmas flick but rather a very, very dark comedy with many truly dramatic aspects. And its funny how up to date it is in a certain way. Truly surprising that this was written and directed pre covid because in many ways it mirrors our current society. The characters are 95% really unlikeable, especially at the beginning. Yes the beginning is weird, but it kind of makes sense. And dont read too much about it in advance, that will help. Keira Knightley was good but she has been better. I really liked Matthew Goode here, he was not as stiff as usually. Lucy Punch was great as well. But the most outstanding performance comes once again from "JoJo Rabbit"s Roman Griffin Davis. He was SO good. Quirky and bad mouthed but also very dramatic in a convincing way. Wouldn't be surprised if he makes my line up once again. Good soundtrack, very good writing and a decent direction round this up to a pleasant surprise that really deserves a way better reception than it got.

And i hope that this movie wont reboot the lowest of emotions, in the midst of the darkest season of the year here on the northern hemisphere, complicated by anotherboost of the infectious covid virus variant omicron, so stay a bit alert if your on the darker side of the moon...there are loads of jonestown mentallity in this sordid and dark and rather macabre british ''it the season to be jolly lalalalala lalalalaaaaahhh''-comedy. With that said , i will recommend everyone to try this flick whatever, just not enjoy it with your wee ones, it might sow doupts in a undeveloped mind, and mindfulness and hope isnt to be lost now when everybody should or shall be jolly... its a holyday season comedy with loads of words, about a family filled with profound love and hate, where the gender issues are well mixed up and the mental status goes from stupor to psychedellic in a blow of love. Its a well made skit over the british x-mas ( or any other bank holiday festives like guy fawkes or you name it cause i'm norwegian)traditions with charade and trivial pursuit, star spangling bodily garments and archtypical eating and drinking rites done by the anglosaxons since magna cartae, the acting cast delivers very goode like matthew or the soon to be knighted kiera. So bend over everyone and let yourself be spanked on thy backsides, its a well made romp , worth to see if youre kinda ignorant, and with seven stars of x-mas the grumpy old man recommends, just like the undergump of a partridge in a pear tree, or eat a lightbulb, just to shine a light ...

Never has a film been so heartwarming, heartbreaking and horrifying. SILENT NIGHT is humanity at its very best in the face of its worst fears with laughter, tears and a poignant reminder of why life is worth living at all before we meet our inevidable ends.

I hated this film so much. What starts out as a super awkward Christmas gathering between old friends- that draws on for way too long- turns interesting for about a second when we are told they are all going die from poison gas released by the Russians (what is this 1984?). Effectively...they have a choice between taking a suicide pill, or letting the gas play itself out. Thus, we watch as they stumble trying to tie up the loose ends in their relationships...all while trying to deal with the kids. But the way it all plays out is just not interesting in the slightest. And by the time they throw their petty little twist in at the end...you simply don't care. God forbid they use it to set themselves up for a zombie sequel. Because this just needs to die here, for the abomination that it is should have never been born. You can tell the filmmakers were given a one line concept and told to make a film about it, with a paltry amount of funding. Because it shows. Not even a star studded cast could save it from complete and utter mediocrity. I've seem alot of Christmas themed horror films, and this is right down there with the absolute worst of them. The fact that they have set it at Christmas alone, is just a hack gimmick to get people to click on it on Netflix. It should be relegated it to the dustbin of history where it belongs...instead, go watch something better this holiday season, like The Advent Calendar (2021)- a high concept film done right- or quite literally anything else. Cause this sucks. 2 out of 10.

The film tried so hard to become funny and creative but accomplishes neither. It got not a single chuckle for me. Pretty sad considering I had some good actors and actresses on board.

Keira Knightly hosts a literal end-of-the-world Christmas party for her well-to-do family and friends. The festivities occur with the looming threat that they are all about to pop a suicide pill before the deadly poison reaches their country mansion. I found this to be a clear commentary on the suicidal nature of Brexit -- showing the stupidity of those who are voting against their own best interests. The film has some amusing moments and decent performances, but ultimately peters out to a gimmicky insignificance.

This film start with a woman applying lipstick on her lips, and another two women talking in the car scene! As turnout, this film is about a bunch of people at the Christmas gathering party choose to kill themselves by taking the pills instead of waiting the poisonous gas struck them! Entire film full of boring conversation, and annoying overuse scene! Such as, overuse of the walking scene, overuse of the arguing scene, overuse of the calling names scene, overuse of the driving scene, overuse of the song playing at the background scene, overuse of the long angle scenery scene, overuse of the drinking scene, overuse of the eating scene, overuse of the staring scene, overuse of the taking pill scene, overuse of the watching photo scene, overuse of the hugging scene, overuse of the quoting movie character scene, overuse of the kissing scene, overuse of the dancing scene, and overuse of the sleeping scene! Make the film unwatchable! At the end, Art still survive after the poisonous gas struck! That's it! Completely wasting time to watch!
