I think the fighters attacking the British airfield (anyone know which one it was) towards the end are Me108s, which were often used in war films as stand-ins for Me109s. The Me108 was a twin seater (side by side) trainer with a similar rear body, wing and tail to the Me109. I think some were used in The Battle of Britain film. The film is also worth watching for the two Avro Ansons which appear at the end carrying the rescued PoWs. It is said that these were brought ashore at Southampton before being flown back to the airfield. Southampton was a civil port, and submarines operated out of HMS Dolphin at Gosport in Portsmouth Harbour. The nearest airfield was probably Lee-on-Solent.

Never a fan of The Man from U.N.C.L.E., I do much enjoy NCIS – especially the McCallum character. Since I'm also interested in World War II history, I took a flier (excuse the expression) on this movie. I was disappointed, for the plot was predictable, the characters uninteresting, and the production values too low. McCallum's performance was okay -although he sure did need a haircut. Except for Charles Gray, all the other actors were unknown to me. This isn't a bad thing but their performances were just average. I am not an aviation enthusiast as many of the reviewers are, so after reading their reviews I read a couple of articles about the Mosquito. It was indeed an amazing plane and I can understand other reviewer's interest in this movie because of this and agree that aviation or World War II buffs would enjoy this movie. However, evidently they might be better served by the 633 Squadron.

Comic book WWII film, my 12 year old son and I, HIGHLY ENJOYED! You won't enjoy this one if your looking for historical accuracy, there is none. You will enjoy this one if you like vintage WWII REAL aircraft, great British character actors ( David McCallum: Man From UNCLE, Charles Gray: Rocky Horror, many others ), inspiring military soundtrack , and a "Star Wars" death star ending sequence! Many say George Lucas was inspired by the ending sequence from the non-fiction film "The Dam Busters" I think he was inspired from it and "Mosquito Squadron" in combination; check it out for a great action flick with a great ending! Being a lover of the Mosquito aircraft I give this film a 7.

This is not a quality film as far as directing, dialogue, or acting. However, it does have a decent plot-line and a lot of fine footage of the twin-engined British DeHavilland Mosquito light bomber in action. It is rare to see this aircraft in a war film and I therefore recommend that war movie buffs tape this one and keep it in their collection. The plot involves the precision bombing of a French chateau and underground German "V" rocket lab. David McCallum is, as usual, a very like-able character.

I picked up this movie simply because I am a shameless WWII aviation buff, and was enthused to see the famous and rare Mosquito bomber in action. I expected the movie to be cheesy, the sort of thing I would have to watch alone. That said, it is far worse than I imagined, and completely worthless. 80% of the footage is lifted from "633 Squadron", a superior Mosquito movie released in 1964. If you're like me and love the planes, rent that movie, skip this one. Summary: Anything good in this movie is actually stolen from another movie altogether.

The claim by the movie makers to be using real Messerschmitts is valid, as they are ME 108's. ME 108'S were often seen in War movies: Darryl F Zanuck's D Day being one prime example. ME 108's were a two seater trainer version capable of carrying weapons. The fighter version ME109's seen exploding in the movie Mosquito Squadron are models. Real ME 109's being far too valuable not to mention non existent as there were NO German ME 109's airworthy back then, only Spanish versions. The Spanish versions had a slightly different nose due to different engine plant. The Spanish Messerschmitts 109's were used in the making of the movie The Battle of Britain.

This must rank as one of the worst of the 60s war movies.. Seemingly stitched together from stock footage of '633 Squadron' and 'Operation Crossbow', a poor attempt to cash in on the former's success. Unconvincing, hackneyed script - appallingly acted by actors who should have known better. Even the music attempts to 'ape' 'Battle of Britain'.. David Mc Callum is even allowed to keep his 'Ilya Kuryakin' haircut... fine for 1969, but not 1944! Its one saving grace; some original flying shots of that most beautiful aircraft, the De Haviland Mosquito.
