Amazing movie line focusing on different, unique, intelligent but not so usual character "George". He is not really interested to relate with modern life & kids around him. But the talented George found someone with out of his league and fall in love. With her love George also fall in love the usual things including socializing. But that didn't last long. She was away out of her league. And the story goes predictably.

The Art of Getting By is great movie, smart and sweet enough to become the favorite film of some adolescent who wrongly believe that they already seen the dark side. There are several lessons to be learned in "The Art of Getting By," though all arrive too late to save this well-meaning but dreadfully executed movie. I wouldn't advise against seeing it, because it showcases Freddie Highmore and Emma Roberts (Julia's niece), and they are likely to do greater things, but at the end, I was wondering, what is the point? Nice people lead enviable lives, the hero can solve most of his own problems, and the villain is a sweetheart. It's custard without the lemon.

This movie came out last year and I'm upset that it took me over a year to see it!! It's a wonderful film! I felt as tho it had something for all groups, the popular kids, the outcast, the artist and the spoiled little rich kids...oh gosh it reminds me of high school lol. Nothing about this film came off as predictable to me. I loved the fact that it looked into the life of an outcast who sees the world as many people do, dark, gloomy and hopeless. I also loved the dry humor of it all. I don't know how it got such bad reviews when it was just a look into real life. If you want fantasy this movie isn't for you sorry. You can't go wrong when you make a film about an tortured artist. I also loved the ending, it told a complete story and it didn't leave me wanting more which is a plus....for me anyways.

As a 16 year old girl, about to go into senior year, I find this movie incredibly relatable. In particular, George and attitude about school, life and homework was something that I had no problem relating to and it felt really deep. This was an amazing movie. However, I think that there were certain aspects that could have been explored a tiny bit deeper. Another thing that I loved about this movie - there were not as many of the typical stereotypes in the movies and it didn't even really feel like the average high school movie. It more felt like a movie that happened to be taking place in high school.

it was perfect. everything was good. it was relate-able. it was real. that's what life is all about. and we are not supposed to get everything we want. George deserved better. it was perfect until the last minute of the movie. i knew i had to stop the movie right after he graduated. this is not a Disney movie and the writer just ruined the ending. it would have been best if everybody just moved on with their lives. I WAS DISAPPOINTED, big-time. to the writer, if you thought ending the movie with them getting together was good, nope, it actually ruined a supposedly great movie. i'm supposed to give it a 1- star but since i'm a fan of Freddie, i gave it another one. :)

Freddie Highmore shows great promise in transitioning from child to adult actor. Some great performances. But film is wrecked by Miss Roberts middle of the road performance. Unlikable character I was actively routing for them not to get together.

The movie starts with an introduction to a very interesting character George, a lonely and fatalistic teen. And that's it, everything else from that point is just uninteresting. Emma Roberts's cuteness kept me going at least till the end of the movie otherwise I would have stopped watching the movie somewhere in the middle. When we are watching a love story, it is supposed to be an emotional roller coaster but there isn't a single scene in this love story that moved me.
