For some reason I was intrigued by this movie. I kept watching it thinking something would happen. Nothing happened. Halfway through it looked like something might happen. Nothing happened. I still kept watching it though, waiting for some grand revelation, or some insight, or some idea of what it was about, and I didn't get it. I waited for the plot to reveal itself or for there to be some sort of context to the story. There was none. There was no foreshadowing, there did not appear to be any conflict, there didn't appear to be a resolution at the end, either. This movie left me unfulfilled and confused. What is the point of this movie?? I have no idea. Does anyone know, and if so can you share with me what the point of this movie was?

It's apparent that Keanu Reeves's career has been declining over the past few years, but... does it justify starring in THIS?? I think not. I'm sure that no one, I repeat: NO ONE, is THAT desperate! I am genuinely outraged. I did not expect an actor of Keanu Reeves's stature to stoop THIS low. What is he doing in this GODAWFUL piece of horse manure with all those pathetic no-names? It's very embarrassing. This is no way to try and revive one's career. In fact, it's probably going to finish it off for good. Who wrote the script for this movie? Is he, in any way, mentally deranged? What a load of incoherent bull! This film is literally unwatchable. It's dumb and pointless beyond comprehension. I can't imagine what sort of person might enjoy something like this. Even if I was related to any of the actors, I would not be able to find ANYTHING good about this pathetic excuse for a movie. There are no redeeming qualities whatsoever. It's just pointless, moronic nonsense; something only a brain-dead imbecile could possibly enjoy. That's my opinion.

If I could give it a 6.5, I would. While it was not hugely captivating, it did hold my attention. First of all, one of the best things about the movie is that it appears to be an independent film. What that means to me is that you will not have to suffer through all the trite Hollywood-isms like the boy risking his life for the girl of his dreams. I will say that if you do not like dialog driven movies, this is not the movie for you. Nothing 'happens'. In fact, there isn't even much dialog. But, the content was fresh and cohesive. I think the acting/actions and cinematography carry the movie adequately enough that I never feel myself urging to hit the fast forward or stop button. Oddly enough, I do not recall if there was any soundtrack music. If there was, it blended in well enough as not to be a distraction. Of major importance is the fact the the acting was good enough that at no point in the movie was I reminded that I am watching an actor. You know how in Django, every time Jamie Fox said something, you were reminded that he is an actor from the 21st century. To me, that ruins the movie experience. Some one is going to say, 'Every time I watch Keaneau Reeves, I think of "Bill and Ted."' To that I can only say, "Every time I hear Sean Connery talk, I think of James Bond. Every time I hear Robert DeNiro talk, I think of Taxi. Every time I hear Al Pacino talk, I think of Scarface. Yet these are all actors who are never criticized for being one-denominational" My point is, there are chameleon actors, and there aren't. The bulk of the actors out there aren't like Gary Oldman, who reinvents himself every movie. Moving on, the last thing I have to say about the movie is that the ending was awesome. I can't say much more without spoiling it. I love when a movie forces me to re-frame events. Well done. If I had to categorize the movie, then I would use the key words 'psychological drama'.

After watching the film I was thinking for a long time about this story, or should I say preview of the story, its background, it did not leave me indifferent. The characters fell deep into my heart and took their places there. I think I'm going to carry them with me everywhere as my life goes. Were we really so far? Here is Mia, who is building an emotional wall around the experiences of her childhood, and here is Violet, who is feeling the need for the warmth and intimacy of another person, all at the time when she dared to be herself, and have stepped through the fear that John will not understand and alienate. And here is John, who was looking at the world, the lives of other people from the outside. This hug wasn't easy for him, maybe for the first time in his life someone needed him so desperately. Did I ever have to worry about such things myself? No, my life is far from life of these people. But does it make us feel different from one another? While all three of them grow roots, I close my eyes and I see Mia buying daisies. Funny, I love daisies. It seems like this flower is all open for everyone to see, but it definitely is something mysterious about it. Surprisingly, John sees the water just the way I see it. To me it's something always changing but staying same at the same time. I guess that's it for right now. Let's see what else the movie characters show me...

I had mixed expectations going in to this film. On the one hand, there was the generally poor showing on IMDb (low rating, several dismissals as boring/uneventful), the relatively bland poster (which conveys little except that the film features three beautiful people) and a pretty uninspired title. But on the other hand, I enjoyed 'Henry's Crime' and '...Pippa Lee' a lot, and so the idea of another non-action-based Keanu film seemed like a reasonable prospect. In the end, I was very glad a took a punt. I liked this film a lot. 'Generation Um...' relies very much on character, dialogue and story, rather than action or suspense. Anyone going in looking for a Keanu cineplex-type effort will certainly be surprised - and probably disappointed. The pace is very deliberate - but it's all relevant, and it all contributes to the film's effectiveness. If a film is to convey the sense of a lifestyle convincingly, it has to follow its subjects through the dull, solitary periods as well as the lively ones. This film does just that and as a result provided a comprehensive picture of the three main characters. You are left with a strong sense of how each of the three got to where they are, how they feel about where they are and how their lives might play out from this point. The relatively simple story unfolds in just the right way. The significance of the opening scene, and the way each of the three characters spends the following day is only revealed toward the end. The way these things were revealed was great - suddenly, each character's behaviour throughout the rest of the film (even the vacuousness of the first few scenes, which was pretty hard to take the first time through) made good sense. Then the film ends more or less where it started - and you're left with the feeling that these people are doomed to carry on behaving the same way day after day until age, physical decay or poverty pushes them in an even less appealing direction. All in all, a very satisfying film. I recommend it highly.

What a horrible, pointless film. Three characters with absolutely nothing to recommend them, wandering aimlessly around and spouting vapid, self-involved nonsense. Yet another "edgy" film about nothing at all. SPOILER: THREE WHOLE MINUTES of a guy eating a cupcake? Really? (At least he kept his mouth closed most of the time. That's something, I guess.) This is a clear but pathetic attempt to make a film in the vein of "Two Girls and a Guy", but without any of the relevance, wit, interest, intelligence, or talent. The two girls are alternately shrieky, moronic, and boring by turns (every synopsis I see of this thing mentions the two girls are "beautiful", but it only takes about 60 seconds to see why "beauty" is the cheapest and least important quality a person can have, as that's how long it takes to start longing to push them both off a building). And the less said about Keanu Reeves' complete lack of affect, the better. The guy is nowhere in Robert Downey Jr's league, that's for sure. Don't waste even five minutes of your time on this turkey. Dreadful.

I try not to make this a spoiler, but I have to say that they might as well have called it a documentary...though the actors are mere placeholders for a phenomenon i guess. I have travelled a great deal around this world and had nights like the one shown in this movie quite many everywhere i went, though most of the people involved were not sexworkers. Uncountable conversations with glasses of whine, mostly without cameras though ;-),with people like me, randomly ending up in the same space for a limited period of time, living in the "grey zone"- a.k.a life. This film is a mere description of how blurry time, space and relation to what is perceived as reality and the suffering within it becomes sometimes, when you are stuck between awareness and maturity. My compliments to the director, the girls and Mr. Reeves. Somebody seems to have understood something. And its funny too!!!

Someone called in some favors and got Keanu to agree to this. This guy records everything that happens during the day and cut it into a full-length movie. Not following any rules of cinematic at all making this a billionaires sons 16th birthday wish. At a few points the actors even look straight into the camera as they think it's well over time for a cut but the director just keep shooting and doesn't even cut that away but keep it just to mess with any potential viewer even more. I think these people OWN ME MONEY for sitting through this nonsense. Horrible! Also, how come the first page of reviews all gave a 1 star while the next two pages are filled with all 10s..Something's is up :) Do not waste a second watching this. It's not even so bad it's funny like Apartment 1303. It's just bad.
