يحاول الشابان مع مجموعة من أصدقائهما مواجهة تعقيدات الحياة، يتعرفان على الأستاذ (جون كيتينج)؛ مدرس اللغة الإنجليزية الجديد، والذي يحببهما في الشعر ويكوّن معهما جمعية تُدعى "جمعية الشعراء الموتى".

I really didn't understood what the Dead posts society meant. But after watching the end I'll just say.
" Thank you, boys." said the Captain.
"We learned to be " meant the poets.
"Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are all noble pursuits, and
necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for."
