i found it to be gritty and entertaining. Its a slow burner that gets better with each episode.
Its kinda funny that the 2 leads are played by a Brit and a kiwi.
but their accents are spot on, i hope it gets a 2nd season.
Jimmy's character is also quite interesting. It would give more background if we got flashbacks of his life, before he became a mobster.
Writers could also add more dimension to Grace's character by showing her life before the tragedy.
Its violent and has just the right amount of nudity(frontal).
I like the family dynamics of jimmy and his boys and crew.
I would like to see how far they can take these characters, also like to see more of Alec, and his relationships, most especially with his wife.
I would love to see more information about her.

It is VERY artsy-fartsy...but it has a great story line, well developed characters. It's not for the NCIS, Hawaii Five-0 crowd. It has great action, both cars and pyro. It twists in all directions. It is believable. The Oakland area is filmed very artistically. Martin Csokas is even more brilliant than in his role in Falcón. Thandy Newton shows RAW emotions, either as Jackie or Grace. Grace doesn't know who she is any longer, she has been Jackie too long. I look forward to seeing how or who is going to *F* things up each week. And remember this is all about Who killed Grace's son and why!!! It feels a little like the show "The Killing" more Canadian, less Scandinavian.

Rogue is a cop drama with a female lead that would have been an acceptable low budget foreign film. The stilted dialogue and overplayed stereotypes would be understandable, if English was a second language and knowledge of United States culture was learned second hand. Sadly, Rogue was produced in the United States and the cost of shooting in L.A, combined with the cinematography, suggest large amounts of money abundantly misspent.
The acting is stiff, at times, most noticeably from the lead (Jackie/Grace) but, offenders are plenty. The story has one or two compelling threads but, is rife with cliché and poorly crafted nonsense. Some examples: All male police officers are lazy, stupid and/or corrupt; all "passionate" sex scenes are rough, quick and angry; the "house husband" is without spine; for the first two episodes, the emotions of Jackie/Grace are irritation and contempt---for everyone.
Jackie/Grace lacks a likable, humanizing, redeeming quality. She places her wants and needs before everything and everyone. She lies to manipulate those she is trying to arrest; she breaks and manipulates the laws she swore to uphold and protect; she lies to manipulate her fellow officers; she lies to manipulate her family.
Rogue is the story of Jackie/Grace, a selfish criminal, a liar and a bitch. Don't waste your time with her.

If you can just grin and bear the first season, it's worth it.
Forget Thandie Newton's charachter, she's duller than dishwater and stupid with it, so just focus on Marty and Ethan and you'll enjoy it.

It took two attempts to get to the end of the first episode - the over-acting and sweary dialogue left me exhausted and not in a good way. When most of the scenes involve shoulder rolling swagger and shouting, it's rarely a good sign in my book.
It had real potential re the concept, but like Red Widow hasn't got it right. I preferred RW but its been cancelled. I'm not sure how Rogue can survive as its going up a blind alley very quickly re the characters/plot. It may be burning itself out deliberately as the writers know something we don't.
Great opening credits and music though.

Just binge watched the first season, I was impressed, though not perfect this thinking action cop series excels where many bigger, bigger budget shows failed. First they trust that the audience is sharp enough to get the non-tropes storyline despite very sharp shot dialogue. It's sort of the anti-"Breaking Bad" in that way. While Breaking Bad had great stories and wonderful natural feeling dialog, Rogue has clippy stylized (not overtly though) dialogue, that would be suitable for graphic-novel based characters - but it doesn't feel graphic-novel-ish as dialogue goes on, it just feels sharp, and you can look at as many layers of meaning or implication as you do, or do not want. Whether you're a high school drop-out, or have university degrees up and down your sleeves, you can get a rise out of viewing the show.
The characters -some particularly good ones in the main and supporting cast, the strong characterizations (all the leads) are very good, and the few less strong ones (the Police Lieutenant is an uneven portrait)don't drag it down that much. Between great casting strong writing Big kudos to the Show-runner! (For the Brits, that's Yankee for "Executive Producer") - for those interested, in the movies "Executive Producer" is a relatively lame title demanded by everyone of the sister of the person who held coffee for someone who helped bring a bit of money, or was in the chain of people who helped secure a big star feels a self important need for an "Executive Producer" credit. Well, 3 out of 4 of them don't deserve it. In television (in North America anyhow)it is the opposite, the "Executive Producer" heads the writing room, is often the "creator" of the series and the title normally signals real creative and writer-ly responsibility.
